Oh one more thing. It was announced that the new Green Lantern movie will be titled "Green Lantern Corps". For anyone who knows the GL universe this is the best news ever. Green Lantern just doesn't work as a solo guy but the Corps mythology is absolutely fantastic and unique in the comic books world. I hope they do the whole Emotional Spectrum slowly

@X Actually this is the only Superman book series i had that i enjoyed. But much because he loses his power and his vision and gets a whoop ass by the Aliens. Oh, and the Aliens are cool nonetheless.

I think with Superman though, being the first Super hero in the comic book universe, you have to take into consideration the times in which he was created back in the 1930's. He was the template for all other comic book heroes, so naturally they were going to make him have high moral character, always fighting for good, even to the point where he would be predictable.
Certainly with the way society has changed and moral values in general going into a different direction, he would look dated. But not only is he also the first superhero, he is also the purest, as he was the only one who was born with his powers. You can make tweaks, but you can't do a 180 on the foundation of the character. Then he isn't what he is supposed to be in the first place.

And as far as that trailer is concerned.
If this is how they are going to introduce the Justice League to the movies, damn, what a way to start. At least it shows the reality that Superman and Batman were never friends. They had, at best, a tenuous truce between the two fo them.

agreed, but i would append those statements with "for kids", antiheroes have been a mainstay of literature for hundreds of years, but it was more for adults. As the kids who grew up reading superman got older they needed more of the juicier stuff. Also one can argue that morals in the 30s were far worse than say the 60s or now.
and of course batman wouldnt get along with stiff rod

But yeah good example. Alan Moore's work is in another stratosphere. Superman is just a regular text book pure superhero as Serge explained, he was the first, and he stays his boring straight arrow shallow good ways because thats how he was made and what defines him as the original ideal super hero. There wouldnt much grey or darker super heroes to make afterwards if they didnt have the benchmark that is cookie cutter Superman that existed for decades prior to these more interesting tales in the superhero comic world. As it with Darks Horse or image comics with Moore, Ennis, Gaiman and the interesting wave of nuanced and darker comic writers that came from Britain/UK/Ireland.
