then i am sorry to say you don't understand the theme of the movie. forget the "army" it is all about the dissatisfaction of modern day consumerist american males, how mind numbingly repetitive their lives are and their constant striving to "better" themselves with products advertisers tell them they need to improve their lives.

and punching people,obviously
I get all that. What I mean is that after an hour or so it has already exhausted that subject and drags on for too long.

Maybe it's just me and I could be wrong.

Its not just you Gustav, though it was far too long since I saw the movie, but that didnt diminish my overall impressed opinion of the flick.

And saw a belgian drama called Ben X, maybe because it caught me off guard zapping very late at night and expecting nothing, but I was really really impressed by this movie. Very interesting and unique in its own way. A tale of struggling and severely bullied teenage boy is not a new theme, but how it depicts it (He's autistic) is extremely compelling and has bit of emotional punch. Mainly for the acting of the lead (though gotta say didnt like the ending, didnt go well with the rest of the movies journey, just for the sake of doing a twist).

I thought that one was so very average, in every possible way. Received a lot of hype around here though.

You should follow it up with Tropa De Elite. Not as good but just as awesome.
I recently picked up the dvd of that one for 1,65€. Haven't yet gotten around to watching it though.

I know I can have different opinions on movies based on when and how I see movies (3 in the morning nothing else on and knowing nothing about the movie, or going to an artsy film festival and hearing alot of good things about a flick way before seeing it etc). But in this case I would say its mainly main characters acting and depicting of his every day life that sells it.

Because in terms of his schools, classmates and his overly mothering mother, its rather average a bit in how they are depicted. Kinda movie who goes and falls with the main character, and for me it goes well as as a drama based on him. Except the contrived ending, the more I think about the ending, the less I like the movie.

Been checking out reviews for Tropic Thunder & it's really got mixed reviews. I've had the movie sitting here for ages but everytime i see ben stillers face, it put me off.

Is it really that funny?

That movie is all about RDJ. He's amazing. Nothing special about the movie but RDJ makes it worth seeing.

Duuuuuude, Robert Downey Jr got an oscar nomination for playing a total ridicolous parody, and comedy acting NEVER gets oscar noms, that should tell you enough of why you should see the movie :howler:

And oh, Tom Cruise cameo

He usually overdoes it, hence annoying. But he is decent comedian. But this is an ensemble movie, not Ben stiller physical comedy antics only kinda shindig.

No havent, had to look it up. That fat kid is annoying, but Russell Brand was hilairous in forgetting Sarah Marschall, so should be decent viewing.
