Are there people here that think visuals > plot or even visuals = plot?
Not visuals.

But in some cases movies that prefer style over substance can be quite good.

taht is some of the funniest shit i have read in a long time, thanks for bringing it to my attemtion
:D

Never mind watching it, I would go out and buy that movie.

I really want to watch Avatar, the movie will be released tomorrow in my country, but the tickets will be costly, so I'm planning to watch it next week. On Xmas eve. Hopefully it won't disappoint me.

I agree, quite good, but their is no 'great' movie that has a terrible plot, there are great movies that have poor/standard visuals, e.g. Twelve Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men may not have any spectacular imagery, but it's cinematography is excellent. As the tension builds, the shots are taken from a gradually lower angle, tighter and tighter on the actors' faces, and with a gradually wider lens. As a result, the room gradually closes in on the actors, and the sense of claustrophobia is communicated visually. It's a very fine piece of cinema.

I thought Titanic was pretty wrong. So, is Avatar more than a good looking 3D movie with a recycled storyline?

On a completely unrelated note: I hope they keep making these Twilight movies: http://chud.com/articles/articles/2...DAWN-MUST-BE-MADE-INTO-A-MOVIE/Page1.html[/B]

Edward is afraid to fuck his new bride. The reason: he's super strong and she's just a human - Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex type of situation here. But Bella wears him down and Edward throws it in her - and knocks her the fuck out, leaving her badly bruised.

I watched it with a couple of my friends and they were like they had just seen a masterpiece. I know how well-reputed this movie is and I also know that it's said to be one of the most influential movies of its time but to me it was like an emperor without any clothes :D

Titanic was overrated at the time it was released (and also in the Oscars) but then people started to discredit it in the years after. It's pretty a good movie IMO, probably not good enough to win all those awards but I certainly won't call it "wrong".

What?
And I thought you were one of the good guys

"A little twig-man oscar. I 'm going to call you half-squat, and you can call me... papa."
I'm terribly sorry Buck :p

I have to admit there were a few good lines, but a film with that cast should be hilarious, for much bigger parts than it was 'kinda funny'. Maybe it was just a bit overhyped and had my expectations through the roof.

It's got nothing on The Hangover though.

I've seen 2012 aswell, great effects, so if you're into big spectacular show-films, you can't miss this one.

Yeah but Cinematography is the method, I was talking purely with regard to films like Avatat,2012 etc. where the 'method' of choosing the images is both simplistic and gay.

The bit with the fan in TAM for exmaple or the bit where Henry Fona puts the knife on the table are masterfully done, just like the ferris wheel scene in The Third Man.

For God's sake, they're ruing an entire generation of females...

I read on the FML site once, smth like: I woke up, went to the bathroom and saw something shining all over my body, turns out my wife covered me with glitter while I was asleep so I "look more like Edward" FML

PS Putting Titanic and this Twilight shit in the same sentence is a sin!
