After a good night rest I am usually able to rationalize and come back at some ridiculous claims I might have made the day before. Not today.
This whole thing really started last year. The club put immense pressure on itself by thinking this is going to be the year to win the title, after losing that final in Cardiff and again almost eliminating real Madrid with the GOAT in their team, management really thought by adding Ronaldo we would be favorites to win this whole thing. Allegri was never the coach that would go all out, especially into the first game of a knock out, but he has been extra cautious this year. Maybe he doesn't fully trust his team to close down games the way we used to do, maybe he was afraid of conceding and relied too much on our attacking brilliance to create that one opportunity. Whatever he thought it failed miserably. I am blaming management as much, if not even more, for this fiasco. The midfield they created is simply not worthy of Juventus. It's not even the best in Italy, and it easily falls outside the top 3/4 in both Spain and England. BUT, having said that, Allegri should have learned from the last 4 years. In every single year we didnt make the final, we got knocked out in a similar fashion. We had Bayern and Real by the throat and could have killed both games off by getting that one extra away goal. Instead he decided to soak up pressure after which we conceded. Heck, even against Tottenham, we did the same and got extremely lucky in the away game.
Yesterday he played right into Atletico's hands. He the experienced manager should have known what their approach is, it didnt change a single bit to say 4/5 years ago. In our 3 games against them, we did not score a SINGLE time, heck the changes we created in all 3 games can probably be counted on 1 hand.
Regardless of what happens in the return leg (because I still believe we have a slight chance), I lost faith in him and this team. He took us as far as he could (and I am extremely grateful for that as hr made us an European powerhouse once again), but I cant see us winning the champions league with him unless he drastically changes his approach.
Management might not fire him, but I do believe he will throw in the towel himself. This summer we simply need a complete overhaul. Panic, as long as you surround him with capable midfielders is the only midfielder who should have a legitimate shot as a starter. Every other one of them shouldn't even compete in the champions league let alone be a starter for a team as Juventus. It pains me to see what management has done to a midfield I have been dreaming about for such a long time and replaced them with scrub.
We have 3 games to prepare for the return, one of them is against Napoli and I dont even give a fuck if we lose or win in that one, but I want us to approach that game as if we are playing against Atletico. Full blazing with the team that should start against Atletico, and that means playing with Pjanic - Matuidi in midfield and Bernardeschi, Dybala and Ronaldo supporting Mandzukic. Cancelo and Spina as wingbacks and BC as centre backs.
