i personally could care less that he left!! he won't play well in spain it's different type of soccer. he'll be getting yellow cards every game because he is a thug. but it bothers me a great deal when a player says that he'll play with juve even in serie B then someone offers them money to leave FU*K them may they brake there legs, the first time they step on the pitch!!

..

I remember that article where he mentioned that. You guys have taken his words out of context. It was more of a joke than bad naming Juve. Its pure exaggeration to start an anti Thuram club for silly words.

No matter what, he remains one of the best Serie A defenders, although his level performance decreased during the last year or so due to his age.

I'm actually a little with Ramin on this one. People are quick to crucify him when I think his comments have been taken a bit out of context. I don't think anyone can question Thuram's dedication to Juve whenever he came on the pitch for us, so I think it's a bit unfair to paint him in such negative terms now.

We succeeded well with him. And while I didn't always agree with him being our backup captain to DP, he re-formed the great Parma defensive triangle of Canna-Thuram-Buffon once again in Juve stripes ... which performed exceptionally well.

Thanks, Lilian, and good luck.

For the sake of not making this refer to yourself, please elaborate more on this:

To be honest, I have not liked Thuram for a number of years. My dislike for him is not simply because of this ridiculous comment.

Thuram has done his job well for us........and its about time he leaves

although i doubt that comment truly came from his heart
he was just probably pissed off and blinded by his NT team mates on how the Italians got Zidane sent off and how he thinks of the match as being controversial....
he's human too and sometimes people just lose their rationality

i understand how some of the people here would rather hate Thuram on his statement. Its just a matter of how you look at the incident and your judgment. Juve never gave up on Thuram and we did stick to him when he was on a downfall of form in 03/04 yet he could treat us this way.......

look on the bright side.....he's old and getting useless.....so don't bug us and take our money and go away.....
i'd rather not think about it......i used to like him and i still do
thank you for everything Thuram, have a good career :pint:

I wonder how much of this is bitterness after losing to Italy, it was Ok when HE was winning against us in WC '98 and cruely in Euro 2000.

What a classless comment when the club is at it's lowest.

He said that before the final ffs. I posted a response on the Thuram bashing somewhere give me the time to find it.

By the way. I think it's an absolute disgrace to open a thread for the sole purpose of bashing an individual who played for our club for many years. And to think it's not a newbie who opened it but a moderator fills me with shame.

Welcome to the world of media. He said that in the middle of a press conference at the World Cup. France was playing bad (1st round) and a lot of the journalist questioned the age of the players, which of course hurt Thuram's feelings, as he didn't feel welcome.
And suddenly someone came up with a question about Juve. Lilian clearly didn't want to answer that as he wanted to talk about France, and not about his club. He probably didn't know what to answer either.
So he just went for ... Juve? who's Juve? and moved on to the other questions.

And of course, such an insignifiant quote is taken out of it's context and the headlines do the rest...
People should start being a bit more critical when it comes to reading media reports. Especially 'quotes' taken out of their context.

Now, did Thuram say these words? Probably, yes.
Was he right to do so? No. Giovanotti pointed out that Del Piero never would've said the same words. But don't forget that we don't own Lilian's mind / opinion. He came over from Parma, and played for us for about 5 years. In these years, I always regarded him as a great player, and he has played well for us. With ups and downs of course, but he did his job.

I totally understand that some people are shocked by what he said, but please take it whith a pinch of salt. And don't hang a player just because of two words taken out of their context.

Sorry, my mistake.

But to say such a thing, now it seems almost as a joke, is not the behaviour expected from him.
It's true that his choice of words was bad. Noone will disagree on that.

Later he said that there was little chance of seeing him play in B. And that he would try to find a club to play in a first division.

He didn't show a big loyalty, but playing in B is the exception for a Juventus player. Not the rule

This comment was made way before the Italy vs. France match. I don't remember exactly when, but it was in a press conference after a France game. I also remember that the next day Zambrotta was asked about Thuram's comment and about his thoughts on Juve, and said he couldn't quite explain Thuram's reaction, but that he thought Juve was a "grande squadra".

I'm a little sketchy on the details, I know. :)

In the end both players are practically gone. :( But it doesn't change that they both did thier best in Juventus jerseys.
