I don't see the issue with comparing Buffon with Del Piero, as long as you don't disrespect either of them. Del Piero being an attacker will always have an advantage over Buffon. However in my opinion they are both equal in terms of legacy. Come five years in future we will look back at them...

Buffon is equal to Del Piero in my book. Both played for Juve for very long periods of time and proved their loyalty when we got relegated unfairly.

Without sounding blunt, Juve are better off without Buffon starting now, so not really.
