no doubt, commanding presence the guy was made for big occasions. Some players just dont choke and Alonso is one of them. Health is a different issue of course.

Seriously this is getting ridiculous. Xavi is a world class player. You can't compare him to De Rossi or Fabregas since they are have different characteristics and different roles. He isn’t a player you notice as much at Barca like Deco or Iniesta but he coves his role perfect at Barca and the national team. Besides he played a great game against Germany and made the assist for Torres. Fabregas was a ghost in that game, so he also showed character when it counts. You might like another type of player but that dosn't change the fact that Xavi is one of the best midfielders around.

Well to help your steel argument. Xabi took Liverpool penalties until his injury last season. Gerrard was second choice in PKs, if that tells you anything.

It all depends on what you mean by comfortable. If comfortable means willing to take opponents one v one and make plays off the dribble, then no Xabi isn't comfortable on the ball.

But if comfortable means the ability to hold onto the ball long enough to make a positive pass and not lose it to the opponent under pressure then one could say that Xabi is indeed comfortable on the ball.

They are totally different players. It's pointless to compare the two. Hell Fabregas is closer in style to Xavi than Xabi and even then its not very close.

They are similar in regards to their role within their respective clubs. They both have the task of being the quarterback, placing the ball around the pitch neatly. Xabi and Xavi (Dos Equis) are both slick passers and have great vision and creativity, so I think they're similar players.

THAT was not an assist. That was a very mediocre pass at best. It's only because Fernando Torres is so brilliant it suddenly became an assist. Very, very poor pass and it doesn't help your argument at all.

It's not about lights or whatever that is. I've watched these players for years. I don't agree that De Rossi is the better passer, that's for sure. Maybe he has better vision and is better at being overrated.

I think Xabi Alonso is a lot better yes and I think he could do well at Juventus. In fact Xabi Alonso is an extremely underrated player IMHO. Xavi would not start at Juventus, Andy. He's right, Xavi needs at least five seconds to decide and he just wouldn't get that much time. The only reason Xavi is half decent is the squad behind him.

As for your argument that we always blast Barcelona players.. Well, that's not true. At least not in my case. In fact it might be the very first Barca player I blast. I always liked Puyol, never doubted Ronaldinho's class and I wouldn't even dare say anything negative about Messi. Xavi on the other hand is mediocre at best.
