No, that’s not it…

70% of this forum is experiencing collective delusion, that few rich guys have their best interest in mind. Those rich guys pretty much said straight to their faces to fuck off and they are very intrigued by this proposal... Perez said yesterday, that they are only interested in money and some board member confirmed, that “wider good of football is a secondary concern” for them. Yet 70% of this forum seem to think differently.

70% of you are so happy about the increased revenue, without realizing that the player wages and transfer fees will skyrocket too. Not to mention, that the greedy owners are doing this to make nice profit, not to reinvest everything they earn back into the club. Why should they? They are set. They will get a nice piece of the pie regardless of how bad their team sucks. To make the fans happy? Gtfo…

All the so called “arguments” presented are just rationalisations of the desspered. The most pathetic one being about fighting the bad guys UEFA and FIFA. Not to say that they are not scums. They sure are, but to be the even bigger scums is not the answear to anything. Its just criminal mindset. “The society owes me something. I’m going to steal this bike.”

Or that other great argument- “UEFA did nothing while shit clubs like Chelsea, City and PSG were ruining football !!! Anyway, lets take Chelsea, City and PSG and start a new league!” Makes sense…

Oh, there is showing middle finger to whole Italy. As childish as that is, it may be understandable. But we are taking Milan clubs with us and possibly Napoli. With Roma and Lazio possibly being next to join… Seems more like a middle finger to the fans than anyone else. And anyone supporting this should take a long hard look in the mirror.
You call us out for wanting the best for the club. But the joke is on us bro and you should know that by now.
The premfags have 5.5 billion compared to wait for it 840 million to split from tv deals.
Psg has oil state backing them .
Bayern owns bundesliga .
What does juve have ? A backwards seria A , hostile Figc , hostile clubs who would rather sell abroad than us ?

Next time when you see us struggle to compete with them remeber this are the reasons why.
10th place revenue wise and you would do well to remeber it , because it's all downhill from here.

I'll never understand how sporting institutions of such sizes can be so disorganized. Those clubs were going to make the biggest change in this sport's history yet they make moves like they're amateurs.

True. Granted I'm not working for those clubs, but I would have expected a lot of outrage. Maybe the pushback was more than expected, with not just UEFA going nuts but also big political figures.

Sure and they just decided to announce it when their most important protect is falling apart... sounds legit :p
Whatever the real cause is, that's just basic damage control. They're a public company that's worth billions after all, they need to show they're in control and to play in sync with public opinion. Still, until they officially announce their withdrawal, anything can happen.

Just to make it clear: I'm fine with ESL not taking off this time, it's been a fun ride anyway. But I''d still prefer to wait for official news. It still hard to believe that Perez and Angelli who went all in will just give up. I won't be surprised if they will indeed just replace a few members and will keep going. Let's wait and see. It shouldn't take more than a few hours before all questions are answered.

The "Football is nothing without fans" slogan did it. When it had nothing to do with fans. It's covid era, fans hadn't visited the stadium and all of a sudden psychologically felt the superleague would deprive of that in the future. Well fucking played.

Well for starters its not a league, and not to replace serie a, or any other league. Its instead of a watered down cl, and ensure a sustanable future for the funding clubs. Football clubs must be one of the most stupied places to invest money, its a moneypit most of the time, with huge risk for little possible gain. I dont know of one single person who became rich owning a football club, do you?

Great response and very well timed, since you came in the door now that the idea is supposedly collapsing.

People that supported this idea was fed up with the rigid, old-world, traditional ways of organizing a European competition and the hipocrisy and lobbying that has been going on for many years. It is in its worst shape and people wanted to change it.

Now i agree that the Superleague was not the ideal answer in terms of "fighting the bad guys of UEFA and FIFA" with a moral high ground, because the people who wanted to push for it is part of the same capitalistic - hyper cynical elite that owns or deals in world Football.

However, expecting a "Democratic" reform of European football is out of the question at this point in time: the damage has already been done, club owners are too rich and influential for that to happen and UEFA cant handle shit, that much has already been proven many times.

Also, regulations and sanctions dont mean shit for these top clubs and they will do as they wish : Super league or no Super league, doesnt make any difference tbh.

The issues we discussed earlier in this thread will now be swept under the carpet once more, as long as the EPL is doing good and can flourish. Fact is the rest of Europe, apart from exceptions like Bayern/PSG will still be falling further and further behind.

Really dont see any shame in wanting change, sorry

You can wish anything you want. When you try and steal what you want, then it becomes a problem... And "i really wanted this" is not an excuse
The only ones that are stealing are UEFA and the small clubs .
These big clubs only want what's theirs.
It's been 48 hours and it looks like you still don't know what this is about.

You have to be really retarded to make fifa/uefa to look like the good guys.
How can you start such a project and don’t have any PR?? People were guessing for day if they will pull out of the leagues or the cl etc and so media started a shitstorm against it before it was even clear what it really is.... they should have waited for the new cl reform and after that should have shown their plan „to save football“.

It’s funny how nobody is interested in the wc elections (how the votes were bought) and all the People dying while building the stadiums or all the dirty money city psg and co have and there is no shitstorm for that retarded CL reform or expansion for EC / WC / club worldcup / Nations League / conferences League or whatever.... people are even ok with uefa putting pressure on states to let people in the stadiums for the EC while most are still in a lockdown
