I agree.
We'd be fooling ourselves if we didn't realize a lot of historic clubs saw the EPL spending this winter window and raised an eyebrow. Over a billion spent by one league, completely muscling the competition. I think those clubs from around Europe and their fanbases kind of had an eye opening reaction. This is insane spending. Probably more spending than the entire Eredivisie for the last 30 years combined. Maybe even ever. Like this winter window by EPL clubs probably outspends the history of the Eredivisie.
Add in expanding the size of the Super League and making no guaranteed spots. I think a lot of clubs formerly against it and (more importantly) their fanbases will look at it differently. The only fans that I could see standing with UEFA are either English fans or fans of clubs with a long history in the Champions League. Unfortunately, a lot of that support is probably behind the scenes. Not many clubs are going to come out in support until there are more details and more certainty behind the dollar figures.
