This has to happen if SA Football intends to stay alive. Conmebol and Concacaf as one American continental tournament. :

Silva, president and founding partner of media rights firm MP & Silva, revealed to SBI on Wednesday that there are wheels spinning on a potential “Americas Champions League”, a competition that would feature the best teams from North, Central and South America.

A way for US teams to play against good opponents, and a way from south american teams to find ALOT new finances trough television rights.

It sounds interesting as a concept, but should be totally dead in the water no matter how good it pays for one simple reason, will quote someones comment under the article:

NYC to Buenos Aires: 5295 miles. Over 10hrs of flight time.
NYC to London: 3459 miles. Over 7hrs of flight time.

A comparison
London to Istanbul: 1551 miles
London to Moscow: 1552 miles
LA to NYC: 2445 miles

A very plausible Vancouver v. Fluminese (Rio de Janeiro): 6,973 miles

Vancouver to Tokyo: 4,689 miles
Vancouver to Barcelona: 4,957 miles
Vancouver to Madrid: 5,223 miles

Why not just open it up to the entire World and not call it the FIFA Club World Cup, ha?

Thats sick and logistically impossible headache to travel between two huge continents :D

Looks cool but it will be a long time before it has any kind of effect that the CL has. Plus it would be huge in scale, no?
