Tbf he touched the cop's car, that's enough reason to get him bazooka'd.
apparently he claimed to be armed with a bomb and began approaching the police...what were they supposed to do...wait to find out, risk their lives and the lives of bystanders to save this asshole?

Asshole or just mentally ill? Is that how you deal with someone like that, just kill his ass? What are non-lethal weapons for, for show? "risk their lives" holding an assault rifle from 10 feet away from a guy with a razorblade. Damn, the cop is lucky to be alive.

Btw Unless it was glued to his dick or way up his ass, he clearly had no bomb.

I didn't say its his fault he's that way, maybe he is mentally ill...I still wouldn't let him stab me. if he's 10 feet away and starts on you you dont have near enough time to drop your rifle and pull out your tazer

and this is just stupid. Because he's not strapped with TNT with a big clock on the front doesn't mean its safe. At any point someone makes a bomb claim the police have to take it 100% seriously.

Drop your rifle and pull out your tazer? Why did he have his rifle out to begin with? It's a fucking knife, not a gun.

No it isn't, he clearly had no bomb and the police knew that otherwise they would not get anywhere close to the guy. They were dealing with someone apparently ill carrying a melee weapon on the streets. Was he a danger to himself and everybody else? Of course he was but the video footage clearly shows he made NO move towards the cop except put his hand on his car and got killed for that.

I don't think so. I think it should be a requirement that terrorists purchase their weapons on the black market rather than walmart.
Dude, I am going to open an ISIS Terrorism One-Stop Shop Superstore. It's legal and all, and since people are already making money off of this it may as well be me.

Well, first we can stop politicizing and celebrating mass shootings in the media. Two we could stop promoting terror across the world. That could be a start. The media solutions are not the right ones for a reason.
I'm totally in on this. Too much glorification of shooters in this culture. The attitude should be more, "asshole kills people, is now dead due to police/self-inflicted wound, and the world is now a better place to forget him/her".

Tell me a culture similar to the US when it comes to guns
I'm not sure that matters. The insane logic now is that anyone is coming up with excuses not to do anything at all and to let the status quo be, as if any attempted change would only have the potential to make matters worse than it is now. That's absurd. The analysis-paralysis, "but what if" b.s. has paralyzed everyone into acceptance and inaction. Nobody is bothering to even try anything.

Why is there a ban on gun violence research?
Bad for business.

X said the Govt don't have jurisdiction to ban guns being sold, but surely they have the jurisdiction to ban guns from suspected terrorists or other people with sketchy backgrounds.

And that's the thing, most people killed by armed civilians, or even police, aren't exactly innocent, but the crime they commited in many cases simply doesn't warrant them being shot.

This thread is like walking into the set of the Rachel Maddow show.

But large parts of that culture are detrimental to public safety and have to change
If that was true, the majority of gun owners would already be in jail. The vast majority of gun issues stem from liberal cities where criminals obtain weapons illegally.

But the government should still try to reduce racist attitudes.

By doing what, exactly? Censorship, limiting free speech? The government can't solve all problems.

True. Of course, which republican frontrunner would any person with a moral compass, and half a brain in their head vote for? Th
Reform of the electoral system is so important in this equation, hard to stress that enough.
Same can be said about the Democrats. But I guess they get a free pass because they're Democrats.

Just like the majority of Syrians are terrorists.

There are conservative cities? :confused2

Though I gotta say, it is curious that all these mass-murder shooter incidents never seem to be in cities. They're usually in TV markets where the local Fox affiliate has a double-digit channel number.

Of course they don't get a pass because they're democrats. There are always idiots on both sides of the equation, of course, but the simple reality is that Hilary Clinton, or Bernie Sanders are certainly not as fucking bat-shit crazy as the 3 individuals I was specifically referring to -- Trump, Cruz, and Ben Carson, who are the Republican front runners in the most recent polls I saw last week. Seriously, you would put your vote behind one of them?

The Dems mentioned above also have a much more extensive resume in the world of politics than the Republicans I mentioned, don't they?

And do you not agree that money is a hugely corrupting force in American politics? Or that the Scientific Method is not a useful way to solve problems?

The Rachel Maddow part...so true
Don't believe in the scientific method? I know you love taking upside down pictures on that iPad of yours. :p

As for Rachel Maddow, I've only ever really seen her on the Daily Show. I know she's a talking head, but that's about it. MSNBC, CNN, Fox News are all effectively trash, as far as I'm concerned.

Ah, but American politics is all about the bat-shit crazy.

The last time the New York Times ran a page 1 editorial -- here calling out the politicians for being complicit to the American firearm murder rate?

When Warren G Harding was running for president and invented the "smoke-filled room".
