Foeller, why do you say predictability is a downside for Silver lining playbooks? The movie tells you indirectly (and rather obviously too IMO) in its first 15 minutes its basically going to end happy after they dance etc. They do that by the early scene where he is POed about Earnest Hemingway's type ending lol (this clip doesnt show ze whole bit about prefer a story to end in happy dance, but first part of ze sentiment is there):

watched django too, its cool and all but i dont see how it can compare with pulp fiction or kill bill vol 1and 2 or even inglorious bastards. thats just my opinion i may be wrong. i think the afore mentioned movies are better in ever department.

Since most people dont tend to watch french movies, its generally a safe bet for me when I'm out of ideas to recommend, I go with Intouchables.

Well, predictability is not bad by definition, but in this case I thought it was.

The ending felt forced and the way everything went perfect in the end didn't feel true to the story and characters in my opinion. It felt too constructed, and I felt it was a happy ending for the sake of the happiness and not because it proved a point.

I dont know why it bothers you? It wasnt done in a cheesy way (as most do), and they arent exactly remotely close to typical couple, and as I said it was bound to end like that when he is a pathetic and sad neurotic character who is OBBSESSED with getting his happy ending, albeit not how it turned out (how delusioned he was going after ze favour of his ex wive is one the more sadder character displays around), I mean as I said, he couldnt even stand books NOT ending up as he pictures or hopes his life to be. All in all that made perfect sense for the journey of the story. I'll quote a bit of a review of ze movie I like that put its best:

"A tragedy with a happy ending" -- isn't that what we want? People generally concentrate on the happy ending part of that sentence, taking it for evidence of a taste for mass delusion or collective amnesia.
The movies overwhelmingly give us happy endings. But too many give us happy beginnings and middles, too, as if we're incapable of enjoying the meat in a sandwich.

While this movie doesnt, unlike ze norm.

But the ending was incredibly cheesy.

They are at a dance contest getting exactly the 5.0 score they need, and they even get the best score from the harsh judge in the end to give them exactly the score needed. After that he goes over to his wife and whispers something so the stupid people in the audience think he takes her back. Then he runs after Lawrence who has left the place to tell her that he loves her.

This is textbook cheesy And while that might work if the film is constructed well enough to handle such an ending, this was damn well not the case. Everything went over the top here. As I said, I don't hate happy or predictable endings by definition, but this one wasn't handled well.

Good movie, but I expected more. The only really "Wow" moment was the whole Candyland scene and the dialogues between DiCaprio and Waltz.

I agree. From the first time they meet Monsieur Candy til Waltz dies - that's the part of the movie that I really loved. The rest is so-so
