i dont quite see how is this racist to be honest ja5per?? i hate godzilla, how is that racist? unless there is sth i dont catch here.

It is suggesting that ALL the people from the far east have a complex with godzilla (if you are going to argue with me heres the timeline - 1. man jumps out of car boot, 2 - attacks people, 3 - one of them realises he is of far eastern, 4 - he assumes the man from the far east (because he is from the far east) has a complex with godzilla and thus references godzilla), its the same as saying every short person has napoleon complex.

Racism is suggesting any difference between people because of genetic racial differences (ie saying someone is like something because they are black or chinese etc.). I choose to see the world as one every equal...you know CRAZY opinions. That film chooses to segregate racial and ethnic groups, making it racist, its very simple. Whilst it is doing that it also lends justification to those views and does nothing to stop racism.

Well you are changing the argument, im talking about a social mentality/ideology, you have just spoken about a physical action, which is a completely different thing. Im not saying everytime a non white character in a film is shown that it is racist, but its when you are laughing at a racial group through a (localised) socially created preconception of people from the origin that you are becoming racist.

no it's not different, the movie builds up that actor's character as the idiot making idiotic comments no one takes him seriously and we re laughing at how dumb his retort is not at its racism; and you re the bad guy for being oversensitive and creating a tense atmosphere by actively looking for anything remotely resembling racism to clutch on. And if you look for you lessons in life from a moronic character from a crass comedy then you gotta bigger fish to fry than the risk of developing racist views.

You over estimate audiences too much, seriously. I dont know what the people of 'freedonia' are like, but in England, when i walked out of the cinema people were doing impressions of him saying that (people are really fucking stupid here) and were taking it seriously. It is the responsibility of the production houses and the directors and the producers and the writers to not have anything racist in because of how stupid people are. I don't like borat because the effect it had on the idiots in britain, its when i realised that some people were just too stupid to realise the point of the film ie, post modernism.

This is one of the reasons why Dave Chappelle left during production of his third season of Chappelle's Show. Because he thought some of the show's sketches were socially irresponsible.

Sorry to interrupt the racism debate that is currently going on here (and aren't we all "racist" in some way or another?), but I saw some movies.


I Love You, Man - Pretty funny and amusing at times, but not really consistent. Segel & Rudd do make for great leads.
Oh, and Rashida Jones is just

Charlie Wilson's War - Very entertaining. I'm usually not a big fan of Hanks, but he was great in this one. Plus, there's Philip Seymour Hoffman. Has that guy ever delivered a bad performance?

The Prestige - I had very high expectations for this one, and I'm afraid they weren't met. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie, just not that great. The final big revelations of both characters were too obvious for my liking. Not to sure about the acting either. David Bowie was painfully bad & I felt Bale was somewhat of a caricature.
Oh, and Scarlett Johansson is just

Fantastic 4 : Rise of the Silver Surfer - They actually managed to make it worse than the 1st one. Quite the achievement if you ask me. Possibly (probably?) the worst comic book movie ever.
Oh, and Jessica Alba is just ...
