Crass/spoofs (sitcom'ish) comedy isnt the only comedy, but generally most of the genre of comedy. Satire's generally tend a mix of things, and not just purely comedic (I wouldnt call American Psycho comedy movie first, and even in bruges is quite the mix) not that common as the norm of comedies being realized. Hence why the former is more like to be mentionned as the standard comedy.

Ah, the moron mass?

edit:

thats not implying you guys are part of the moron masses, you post on forums and debate etc. immediately puts you above that.
Really now? :D

not necessarily, and we look for different things in movies depending on our moods i personally cant watch deep elaborate movies all the time; i liked the hangover it was funny and i saw a lot of situation that i could recognize from my life and that even made it more funny, take it lightly it's not meant to be taken seriously

Thats a good advice for Jasper, to take it lightly, depends on expectations and mood, somethings should just be enjoyed or simply just watched for what they are, not what they arent. I can go from watching Lynch movie then to an Adam Sandler movie, and enjoy both quite a bit, for what they both provide (a while ago since I appriciated Lynch though, and also Adam Sandler, mainly Happy Gilmore :D).

For example, Zombieland just looks like mindless FUN, would like to see it, hehe. Even if its prolly pretty stupid.

What about the likes of abejaa?
Yeah i think he just fell onto a computer (an infinate ammount of monkeys with an infinate ammount of typewrites would write the complete work of shakespeare, he was that in practice.

Im sorry for taking racism seriously. I study film as an academic subject alongside politics and have done for years, i can't not take films seriously. Comedy has to be really clever and fresh (not done 50 million times before) to make me laugh. Spinal Tap has a lot of crass humour (not comedy) in it and its one of my favourate films, it was incredibley clever and years ahead of its time, just a shame that Rob Reiner is such a douche.

As there seems to be a couple of you who haven't seen it, I'll add my recommendation to In Bruges. Some bias here - the writer/director is an Irish playwright, and two of the stars are Irish - but I like it a lot.

Of course, if it's not to your taste, you may find it crass, racist or any of half a dozen other unpleasant things. Them's the breaks with comedies - YMMV.

Its brilliant, and defenitely 100% because of that irish writer, his style and creative writing just jumps out of the screen, quite unique quality. Feel free to say if he does more stuff.

YMMV???

Have you seen Six Shooter, the short that In Bruges is based on?

I've seen some critical reviews, and the one girl in the group I saw it with didn't like it. On the other hand, it won a BAFTA for screenplay.

a short film of his (~30 mins) which won an Oscar for short films. I haven't seen it myself. He doesn't appear to be rushing into his next film project, but I'll very likely hear if he does, and will post about it.

Your mileage may vary. American idiom meaning that my good experience doesn't guarantee yours.

Oh noez, an ethnic joke? THE NERVE :p

Btw, the movie was bit inconsistent, that was the part I loled the hardest at :D

Sorry pal, I get if you dont find it funny, but you cant seriously be this uptight.

Btw, IMDB forums is the most emo on the planet, where everyone talks shit of every little imaginary thing being racist or gay. But I just checked this movies board, didnt see any mention of racist this or that.

Racism is suggesting any difference between people because of genetic racial differences (ie saying someone is like something because they are black or chinese etc.). I choose to see the world as one every equal...you know CRAZY opinions. That film chooses to segregate racial and ethnic groups, making it racist, its very simple. Whilst it is doing that it also lends justification to those views and does nothing to stop racism.
