You sign back up players when you have adequate and quality not when you already lack quality, you can't build a house from straws, and this is what the club are currently trying to do. And all of these players have turned out to be faliures for one reason or the other. Da costa is a player that could not even make more than a single apperance for an inferior club in fiorentina, so what on gods green earth makes you think he will do any good here.

The club are better off signing a future partner for Chiellini, a defender of his quality like Zapata, santacroce or Howdes, instead of buying what is more or less crap.

Knezevic is injured and andrade is as good as dead for a footballer, why shouldn't we get a back up? I doubt Zapata, santacroce or Howdes would be willing to be back up anyway. It seems to me you spend far too much time signing players on FIFA or PES.

If he was a world class defender why was he sent on loan during the back to back league win in 04/04 and 05/06? because he could'nt remove or Thuram cannavaro, he was'nt even good enough to be deemed a back for them. He is not a Tudor, Montero, Thuram or Cannavaro. The only reason he is in the team now is because our defence is an ordinary one. Now do you see? this why the club have to sign defenders like Santacroce, Zapata, etc in order to get back to that level, and not sign waste of space like Da'costa. It's about quality not quantity. There is no point in you trying to argue with me, because you know what i am saying is fact.

he was loaned out because he was a) he was deemed as a squad player when he was first signed and b) he didnt adapt well, obviously loaning him out and finding God did him good.

ordinary defences do not have the 2nd best record in 2 seasons running.

and for the info tudor himself was hardly world class, was a good defender but he was no better than legro is now and same goes for montero

i kno plp may not agree with me, but i'd take chiellini over cannavaro when he was at juve. given that it's january da costa is probably the best available, and i'd take him over knezevic. I thought he was great at psv, but can't tell how he'd do in serie A. even tho legro has done well we need a partner for chiellini, but clubs are not going to let players like zapata leave during january so i wouldnt expect much quality coming in during this window. january is normally where young players get transferred and teams stock up on reserves to cover for injuries.

Our best central defense is Legro and Chiellini. Both have been great so far, we don't need to change anything. Mellberg has been a good back up and since Knezevic is out, we should get a cheap player, who spends time on the bench and comes in when needed. And who knows, Da Costa is young, he could turn out to be a good talent.

No he has only made one apperance for them in more than one season. If he was any good don't you think they would have played him more than just once. So therefore if he is not deemed good enough at an inferior club why is he all of a sudden good enough to play for my team? It does'nt add up.

The club need to stop being tight, and invest in adequate players. The club are becoming obsessed with loans and free transfers. Our total expenditure in defence in over a year has been 500,000 euros, this is fucking pathetic. Instead of signing mediocre players like Da costa and Knezevic the club should sign quality defenders.

Instead of having wet-dreams over messi, why does'nt andrea sign an adequate defender for the club.
