ranieri wanted two players for each position, so we needed to add one player to every departmend... if you are not blind you can clearly see that we added a player to every departmend:
goal: manninger
defense: knezevic & mellberg
midfield: poulsen & ekdal
attack: amauri
you can chose who you think is the quality player here but you can not deny the quality and experience mellberg and poulsen bring.
if you compare our squad from now with the squad from the same time last year, then we got a much more complete and strong team now. don't forget that sissoko is also a "new" player and was not part of the squad at the beginning of the last season.
We added ten (yes 10) players to our squad. Do you think it is that easy for a coach to integrate so many players ?
Our team worked pretty well last term, so there are only little changes to be made to gain the extra point here and there to claim the scudetto.

Le Zebre is correct, you cannot class Knezevic and Mellberg world class, we still don't have the world class defenders we use to have, when we had Cannavaro here. Chiellini was going to be a huge part of our campaign at the beginning but now we have lost another chunk of our team and our lack of quality signings will damage the club in the beginning. I was happy to hear we almost came to agreement with Xabi Alonso but unfortunately we couldn't afford the increased amount which was a shame, now we know our board will not invest enough for us to move forward.
It will be difficult for us to do well this season, we can do respectably well in the Serie A as long as we get our stars back and avoid big injuries, we can do quite well in the Champions League but I don't see us going very far when we meet up with clubs like Barcelona. We aren't as experienced as our season with Cappello, so things are bound to be different. Basically the point I'm trying to make is, We need to make signings, and from what I've read our transfer market is closed, so this gives us a very hard time to be 'content' with the squad.

Then I go and say "wc player", these 2 brackets( "") doesnt mean that they aren't WC players it means that to some they aren't, to me they are very established players. Its true that we still lack a very good defender especially on the flanks, but this doesn't mean that were going to fail and suck and everything because we didn't reinforce these spots. Hence adding de ceglie is till better than anything, last year we didn't have anyone but molinaro, so that's an improvement already. For our "creative problems" which to are non existent we have an extremely talented midfield with players who can defend very well and create a la zanetti poulsen, not to forget camo nedved (who's still a force) and of course giovinco and ekdal even tiago)

I also want to tell you that your attacks on our board and ranieri are unfounded, they did a very good job of leading us back to CL football after 2 years of shame, last year they outdone themselves, also bear in mind that they could have sold our assets (gio de ceglie and marchisio) but no, they chose to keep them, instead of wasting our money on foreign talent. They bought amauri an outstanding player, and poulsen who's very underrated.

Stop living in the past for fucks sake, we got demoted to serie B, were cheaters to the whole sporting community. We're rebuilding right now, and our current squad whether you like or not is GOOD, good enough to win us a trophy. Stop whining you and that other new member, and start living in the present.

Just how long should the "Rebuilding" part take? 4 or 5 years????
Look at Barca, Bayern and Milan, they rebuilt their teams in less than a year, I think that 3 years are way enough to build our team, I know that our case is different than other clubs as we got relegated and our financial situation got really fucked up, but now we're back to serie A and CL, so when will we consider ourselves as one of the greatest clubs in Europe again??

In other giant clubs, the sub is at the same level of the starting player, while we are looking for anyone to warm the bench and we call it depth???

I might have misunderstood you, you're right about hamsik, this was a mistake, but even moggi did mistakes, demoting us to serie B being the most obvious one. So it's not so wise to start blaming our board for everything, lets give them this season and next to see what they can pull. Also look on the bright side giovinvo de ceglie and marchisio are back. i think it was sensible to go for squad depth at this time of time .. you don't want us to be roma, do you ? if we concentrate on buying one star player instead of many that cover the various positions, then it would make us dependent on the form (see tiago last season) and health (see marchionni) of the player.
if the star player gets injuried we would stand there just like we did not buy anyone next season.
now we have 2 players for each position which is important if you play in many competitions. now when a player gets injured we at least have another player that can step onto the pitch ... not like last season with camo & marchionni injured, where we had to watch nocerinos crosses.
