I am quite active in this thread and my biggest concern is to stay as slim as possible and gain perseverance like I never had. Always striving for more perseverance.
Fair enough mate, I just feel sorry for the guys who want to become a bulky brickhouse, for the sake of trying to look a bad ass.

I know people who want to be the baddest, most intimidating mofo' out.

Other guys wanna' look like the stereotypical 'attractive' body, presented by the media, they do it for the ladies.

Some guys do it for other guys, which is a bit... gay.

Many bodybuilders were bullied as kids, and they want to be big & intimidating as a result, one of the guys I know, is skinny, and got smacked about in a few fights, now hes trying to bulk up, but my brother is skinny & weak, hes never been in a fight, cause hes a nice guy.

The guy who got smacked about was startin' shit, most people won't have a problem with people, if they themselves are nice, ofcourse some nice lads get bullied growing up for no good reason, which is a shame, I feel sorry for them.

Also bodybuilding is homoerotic, many people worshipping the male body form, and muscles etc, it reeks of queerness.

Aye I know, just sayin'.

Some fuckers are strong without lookin' it anyway, all these people are goin' on about the image, they're not content with being strong and in shape. I consider it a mental image problem, the same sorta thing as anorexia, though not as extreme.

The strongest guys I knew growing up were farmers, doin' manual labor everyday is good for strength.

These two cousins I knew (both farmers), were both like 5ft 5 and 140 lbs in their last year of highschool, but were strong as fuck when it came to tackling in football, their shortness helped them in that regards, it felt like they were planted in the ground, like tackling a brick wall.

They would be shoving people out of their way with ease. They didn't look as strong as they were.

And in the weightroom they were stronger than many bigger lads.

All these people who want to look like a 'beefcake' need to get over it. Same applies to Women wanting to look a certain way.

I have no interest in being a beefcake, but I don't think you should equate wanting to be a bit ripped, slim and in shape with a mental problem. I'm unsatisfied with the way I look now, I probably have 7kg to lose. I feel less confident when talking to women than I did before I gained those kg's.

Fair enough, if you want to look good for the ladies, thats fine, everyone wants to be attractive, I'm mainly talkin' about the lads who want to look like a mini-hulk, and as I said, they want to look a certain way for other guys.

Most Women, like the leaner look, over the ogre/hulk/neanderthal look, everyone knows that. (or everyone should know that)

I wish ya' all the best mate, but 7kg is fuck all. Thats like a stone. It's just your mentality, When my mother (aunty, brother or w/e) is 7kg heavier or lighter, I don't notice it.

I agree on the mini hulk part. I saw a dude the other day who was a gorilla, fucker was the size of Brock. I can't imagine any sane girl wanting that. It's not that I want to look better for the ladies, because I'm hawt as fuck - but I just don't feel comfortable.

And thanks, I know 7kg isn't much, shouldn't take more than 2 months.

7 kg isn't much. It'll be a while before you actually notice the losses. So don't weigh yourself often if at all the first month.

Aye good luck with losing that, it should be easy enough for ya'.

I'm not that far removed from my highschool years, I'm in my early 20s.

The guy who was considered the best lookin' guy in the school was, 6ft 2, and he must have been like 155lbs or something.

He was lean, bodering on skinny, thats the sort of body most Women like, as far as I'm aware. Some women, like downright scrawny guys. And some like guys who are a wee bit chubby/chunky.

Hardly any like the broad as fuck, one man wreckin machine type.

Genes is the most important thing when it comes to body type/size etc etc.
It does matter a lot. Some people are born ecto morphes, some are mezo while some are endo. Some are blessed with a 8 pack while some are stuck with 4 pack.

People also have different muscle group at which they are the best and strongest so yea, you do have a point. But on the other hand, all of the people can be big and/or ripped/lean.

I've had relatives who REALLY wanted to gain weight, they tried eat as much as possible and they worked out, but they never gained a lot of weight.
Long story short - they didn't eat enough. Or they did, but it was low intake of calories, so probably some healthier food. You just have to eat more calories than usually and you're getting 'bigger'.

It's hard for me to gain mass. That fucking pisses me off. I guess I'll have to take steroids.
Getting muscles takes years and not just 6 weeks or 4 months like you read on the Internet. That stuff is bullshit, so don't buy that, yo. IF you wanna get lean muscle then you should be happy if you get a pound of muscle in a year. Strip down to low body fat and try to 'bulk up' while not increasing the size of your hips (or getting fat), it's very hard. But 1kg of lean muscle is a huge difference on your body. Being big in a t-shirt what most of the people want, but they are just big and have lots of fat usually. You're not gaining muscle because you're still a kid and your body is yet to develop. Secondly, like I said, it takes years to build muscles and it doesn't happen over night. Thirdly, you need nice food plus a kick ass program while focusing on progressive overload. Your testosteron levels are very high at your age, you still have a boner when you wake up, you don't need roids man. You will naturally grow a lot more over the next couple of years because you're very young. When you take a look at some 'good bodies' it's all models who most likely take roids so those shouldn't be your role models. What you need to know is that on a pic some might look like 10 times better only because of the edit in photoshop and changing the contrast. Also, they don't drink water to get their water waist off, so their abs are visible more. Plus they are on a kick ass diet that would make many people faint so it's all pretty much a BS. Before/after pictures? Don't look at that shit, it's all lies. Most of the guys that are doing it natural have to lift weights for like 7 years to achieve a decent body.

What do you guys think about steroids? It's a serious question.
If you took steroids you'd burn off fat and add muscle at the same time, even when you're watching porn or browsing on Tuz. And for 2 months you'd build more muscle than me in like 2 years. Ye... that shit is crazy.

My opinion on that? I'd tell you that you're an idiot if you took any for too many reasons.

If anyone on here is actually considering steroid usage they should quench their mind of it. It gravely effects your long term health. The history of body builders who openly used steroids in the 70's and 80's are all having heart attacks in their 50's and/or need heart surgery.

As for the ongoing argument about body builders its really a question of lifestyle. You have to be in it for more than just the ego and massive physique. The main incentive should be the benefits gained from the body building lifestyle itself - good health, discipline learned from training that is applied in your life in general etc. Vanity should be avoided because that can lead to serious general mentality problems and dangerous short cutting and training which is contrary to the philosophy of any world class personal trainer.
