why? Is he the worst player to you? why did you pick him of all the players? why? he is a nobody to me.
But that was the point of the joke. If I went for a Legrottaglie or Boumsong, that would be too obvious. Brocchi is funny because he has played for the Italian NT and, well, he's Cristian Brocchi: completely forgettable at the same time. It's a rare breed of player who can pull that off. :D

When I said Gattuso, the other 3 players I had in mind were Brocchi, Bresciano, and Lauren :D

It's not Del Piero. He's my all time favorite, but saying he's the greatest of all time is a bit much IMO. The problem with these competitions is that while Maradona and Pele could win a game on their own, that simply wasn't possible for players from the 90's onwards. Thus you cannot compare Zidane to Maradona. IMHO Zidane is probably the best player there has been so far. But that's because he was more trained than Maradona. Who knows what could have happened, had Maradona received the same professional treatment?
If this thread means the greatest we've seen, then I'd stick with Del Piero. I started following football like a real fan since 1994. So I wouldn't go too far and name the famous legends around, from Beckenbauer to Maradona and Marco van basten. I'm not aiming at any one here. As I keep hearing this daily, best player to ever touch the ball is this and that.... but ask them If they've seen more then 10live games for these players, they would have diff answer.

TBH, I don't believe in idols or heroes I didn't live their times, sure I would respect them and think highly of them, but to make them as top on my books where infact I havent seen one live match of them is above the limit.

So since 1994 till now, Alessandro Del Piero is my greatest footballer and I'm not talking about fav, i'm talking greatest to touch the ball since i followed football, sure the likes of Zidane, Ronaldo, Romario, Maldini are very close behind him.

It's a matter of taste too a little. I for once never seen a player like Del Piero, whose main weapon on the pitch is his brains. He's not very fast, not very strong, not very tall... but the guy is smart as fuck :D

Nobody touches the ball the way Del Piero does... maybe not the best, but absolutely unique.

At this time, when footy's becoming more and more physical,
after the retirement of Zizou, Ale's probably the last representative of "Joga Intelligente".

etc etc

:agree: Agree with you Rab. It DP for me too! If I had to choose non- Juventini, it would probably be Maldini edging out Baresi.

Thats one of the reasons he's my all time best player. Things he do with the ball seems really hard for others. He's simply one of the most gifted players football produced in the last 50years. I've never seen someone has a ball control like Del Piero, the way he stops the ball and control is just speechless. Not to also mention that any player passing through what Del Piero passed in his career would most probably not be able to pass that. Ale was injured, criticized through press and media ever since, and yet managed to prove them wrong.

Like you said, his brain is what makes him special.

Why should they be live?

Thats not the point. The thing is, when you have to choose your "all time greatest/best player" you should follow atleast half of his career to judge on him and have your own opinion and say about this player.

And saying to watch live games of these players, is the same like following all news about them, like we do nowadays. Plus, I don't think there are channels that transmits all Maradona or Pele's games/matches since they started football prof. Thats the point.

And since the only player you're interested in is Del Piero, the choice becomes pretty clear.. :D

Rab has a valid point about all the trials DP has resisted in his career. Not many players would have continued playing, Del Piero did.

Building on that our ultimate crusader became mentally tougher from his knee injury when he came back. He was a new man.

aha OK what about Zidane Rab, is DP better than Zidane?
Del Piero is much more gifted player than Zidane. Zidane's move to Real Madrid turned him into one of the best players ever. During their Juve days, Del Piero was leading If we're talking about (Performing) here.

And since we're talking about these two players, in terms of class, they're both on top. Anyway, can't really choose between them, but I'd say Ale with a little push. They're two football legends.

Zidane will be remembered more I think because of his personal achievments like Golden Ball, Player of the year and etc....

By the way, the commentator of our match against Pescara was talking about Maradona when he was asked about Del Piero and Zidane, the legend said that he enjoys watching Del Piero and that Del Piero's playing style is more entertaining than the former French skipper.

In fact, I trust Maradona and I agree with him, what is more.. :cool2:
