Gianluigi Buffon’s Juventus future remains in doubt after he insisted that he does not want to discuss his future any more.
The Bianconero reiterated on Saturday that he might leave the Turin outfit at the end of the season.
This caused director general Jean Claude Blanc to state in an interview to Tuttosport that he considered the goalkeeper a key player for Juve’s return to the highest levels.
“I am pleased to read these words, but I do not want to speak about this issue any more,” said Buffon before being presented with a medal by the President of the Italian Republic.
“I have been playing football for the past 12 years and I know how things go. I am sure that anything I might say would cause trouble to me and the entire team.
“That is why I choose to remain silent,” added Buffon, who was also awarded the 2006 Lev Yashin trophy as best goalkeeper in the world by FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
“I am not the only player at Juventus and I do not think that I am the only one to decide my future – I am not that important,” concluded Buffon.
Meanwhile, Juve suffered a double injury blow as Giorgio Chiellini and Jean Alain Boumsong are set to be sidelined after picking up knocks in Saturday’s Trofeo Berlusconi defeat to Milan.
The two defenders underwent scans, which revealed a strain in the left thigh for Chiellini, who will have to rest for six weeks before resuming training with the rest of the team.
Boumsong will be out of action for three or four weeks to recover from a strain in his right leg, but Raffaele Palladino, who also hurt himself in Saturday’s match, is expected to be available for the trip to Mantova.
