The fact that he's better than our other defenders is not a good enough reason to get him. Oddo is better than our other fullbacks but he's a load of shit too. I know that if he comes, he is not gonna just sit on the bench for some less influencial young player, especially under the balls-less Ranieri. Yes, we want to improve to our backline, but taking it from absolue chaos to just above mediocre and painfully slow is not my idea of what it takes to play against Rooney, Drogba, Torres and Eto'o.
as far as our board wud be concerned, it's still an improvement!!! like i said sumting to keep the masses contented for now

Funny thing is, if he would sign for Milan, most here would say something like haha cannacunt is joining the retirement home, now when he would sign for us, we say, good, he can teach others.

Nice logic.

I see your point but in this case saying that he's better than our defenders means a lot.He can offer us much more than we have right now. He's an ex champion with a lot of experiense and it'd be sweet to see him teach our defenders something.

Criscito-Chiellini-Cannavaro- ? could work very well and we could get a lot with this free transfer.

We don't have money to buy 4 world class players and he's surely a better move than Lugano...because we can't get Vidic or someone.

He still got injury problems but as i said, I might be biased in this situation where I'd prefer Canna here because I don't think he's worse than Gallas. He's old, that's right, but he can play here for 1-2 years without a probelm and he doesn't have to be our Maldini. He's still a world class defender and some level that Gallas won't ever reach. It can be a part of contract where he'd get 1 year and job of a director/assistant coach or somethin later on.
You may be right, it all depends on Cannavaro's physical condition and a structure of his possible new contract. If he's capable of playing one more year at his good level and after that year he becomes part of our coaching staff, then considering a low risk it would be a good move. But if he's supposed to be another veteran to play for years and induce fans to beg him to retire ASAP, then I would for sure choose a Gallas, Marquez, even Gamberini maybe, who all are experienced, can strenghten our defense a lot and could still guide Chiellini and the youngsters.

Maybe because we don't have any veteran in defense while a year ago they had like 5 of them.

I have to agree here. But if we could sign Marquez right now I'd surely welcome him over Cannavaro.

Cannavaro's wages would probably be Legro & Mellberg's combined, and would be the gateway of Ariaudo's loan. :D
His wages could be balanced and at this point he can offer much to our team/defense than Ariaudo (who has the potential).

If we had our full back positions set, with two quality players, and if all we needed was one CB (as it's the case with Milan), then it would have been hilarious if we bought Cannavaro.

But we need to improve 3 different positions before we start thinking about a CB.
Cannavaro would be accepted here only if the choice is Cannavaro or no-one, and if we spend all our money (which is probably a small amount) on the other positions, which are of higher importance, then signing Cannavaro on a one year contract, is acceptable, of course.

This might come as a shock to some of you, but this isn't the summer of 2001 and we don't have 150m eur for transfers.

I said it in another thread.... what we need is a leader in the back. We don't have any experienced leader, who can organise our back line. Chiellini is playing CB since 2 years, Legro is average (in a posive way) but lacks the leadership character as well as top-class experience and Mellberg is a depth player IMO.

I wanted Marquez, but since I highly doubt Barca would be so stupid, to give him to us, which other really proven and top class leader is on the market?
    Carvalho? Terry? Gallas?
No, if we can get Canna for free, get him. Not only does he add the needed experience to our back-line, he is also a great leader and character to have in the dressing room. Let him teach Mimo and Giorgio.
Also, how can we really say, he has only one year left to play? He has always been in a fine physical form.

My problem here is that he might look okay in Serie A where he will be considered in his prime and would only be exposed on the rare occasion against "speedsters" like Pellisier, but aginst other European teams where they have quick, powerful players, evrn Mellberg may be more equipped to handle them.

Fuck, watching Ivanovic recently has let me see what an ideal player he would be for us.

    Cannavaro 'agrees Juve return'

There are shock reports that Fabio Cannavaro is set to return to Juventus at the end of the season.

The Real Madrid defender's contract is up in June and he is unlikely to renew it in La Liga, while he has shown some interest in a Premier League experience.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Cannavaro has already agreed a transfer to Turin, where he played from 2004 to 2006.

He left in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal and 2006 World Cup victory, winning the Ballon d'Or later that year.

The 36-year-old has had a mixed time at Real Madrid, but will be a free agent come the end of the season.

However, the news has not exactly generated enthusiasm among the Juventus faithful, as several forums are full of comments regarding his age, form and decision to leave. they read juventuz :D

Many have not forgiven Canna for walking out when the club was demoted to Serie B and have urged “an apology” before he returns.

Other World Cup winners such as Gigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero opted to remain in Turin.

Heck no! I don't want us to be like AC Milan. Nedved, Cannavaro, Del Piero are old and getting older. DP still has a couple more seasons in him, but the board really need to sign a couple of world class players.
