The point is that there's no available experienced defenders. So the only option is to buy(or borrow) a promising player and hope for the best.
What good will it do us if he fails? Besides like I said before, milan are after him and a bidding war will lead to another flamini scenario.

what to do...what to do...:wallbang:

- Ivanovic?...Chelsea didn't want to give him to Milan on loan with rights to buy. NEXT!

- Zapata?...Udinese will ask for the moon. They'll ask for our youngsters but it's late for them to buy a replacement. POSSIBLE

- Cannavaro?...Real won't sell him right? NEXT!

- Marquez?...Cup-tied?

- Mertesacker? They won't sell him.

Then we go for lower quality players...

- Lugano?...Cup-tied NEXT?

- Felipe? POSSIBLE

- Santacroce? Napoli won't sell him this year. NEXT!

- Campagnaro? POSSIBLE, we'd have to loan them Marchisio or something.

- Albiol/Marchena? Valencia need cash? Would they sell one of them?

- Kompany???

and lower quality

- Luisao/David Luiz of Benfica? Luiz is better and younger; won't sell him and I don't like Luisao.

- Bruno Alves or Porto...Porto want to sell him? not a star.

- Bovo? Is he with Genoa? POSSIBLE

- Radu? still with Lazio?

- Stendardo? bah! NEXT!

- Dainelli? BAH! NEXT!

some unknown South Americans like Matheu, Maidana or Martinez? NEXT!!!

- Salcido? BAH!

beg Inter for Burdisso? :shocked2: NEVER!!!

stendardo was linked with udine, ac milan and bologna this summer... so i guess the possibility of the move was quite good... furthermore lazio got 5 center backs so they do not need to buy a new defender

if my statistics are correct he also did not play in pre-season for lazio (which would suggest he is still not on good tearms with delio rossi)

comparing knezevic with stendardo ... i don't know stendardo is a player from lazio(who play international competition so he got some european experience) and knezevic came from livorno a smaller club...

If he fails, it won't do us any harm except for wages, it'll still be as if we didn't buy any defender just like what happened with Criscito last season. And about Milan they have no interest in taking a defender on loan without the rights to buy.

Well, then my point is that we should buy or loan a player who at least did play a match in the last six months rather than a one who didn't.
Like who?

man it's tough!

We could get Campagnaro who can play both RB and CB. Nothing out of this world though or Felipe that can cover LB also. :wallbang:

aha, that make a lot of sense. So if they have to sell, they will only sacrifice him for big players, Kaka deal maybe.

anyway, why all these rumors came from? he isn't happy or had problems or something?
The rumors were started by Ivanovic's agent who said that Ivanovic asked Chelsea to let him go.
No-one denied that Ivanovic asked to be loaned/sold, so i believe that he really asked his directors to let him go.
Then Gazzetta started writing how Milan are going to sign Ivanovic and everyone else started writing about his transfer.

But people from Chelsea were clear from the beginning. They said that they're waiting for Peter Kenyon, the chief executive of Chelsea (he wasn't in England) until they decide what to do with Ivanovic.
Kenyon's decision was not to sell him at all and the only option was a loan deal without giving the other team the rights to buy Ivanovic at the end of the season.

At this point, there's no good defenders who aren't key players for their teams, so our only option seems to be taking a risk with a promising defender on load without the rights to buy( Ivanovic, Pique,etc..)
Another option is to overpay for a defender who is a key player for his team. To pay +20/25m for someone who wouldn't cost more than 15-16m normally.

Milan will outbid us for him. Even if its just a loan deal, they'll just offer a better salary.
I'm not so sure and if you saw Galliani when he talked about Ivanovic, you wouldn't be so sure either. I've never seen Galliani so angry and i must conclude that the meating went really bad. Galliani said "we won't let anyone set us ultimatums". I wouldn't exclude Chelsea asking Milan to involve Kaka in the transfer.
Dunno what happened exactly, but i believe Chelsea and Milan won't be doing any business anytime soon.

Stendardo :lol2:

Might as well just use Knezevic. Do some of you people strive to be mediocre or what?
:lol2:

I love this forum.
One day i and another 4 people fight and argue with Andy and another 4 people about something related to Juve and the next day me, Andy, two guys from "my group" and two guys from "Andy's group" agree about something and we fight and argue with the other four guys from group 1 and group 2. :p

I'm 100% with Andy about Stendardo.

I say no to average players at this point, because we already have a lot of these, so if we must buy or borrow someone I'd rather take a risk on a promising youngster and hope he will have a great season.

I don't think we have still money to get WC CB
After what we spend in 2 years
we already spend big money on Amauri+Poulsen this summer
And Andrade+Almiron+Tiago+Iaquinta+Criscito last summer

I thought the board will try to sign cheaper option like Dainelli who is avaible
How about Luisao of Benfica, we can exchange him with Tiago
or might be Alex Silva
or else?

We cannot afford more gambling, we have to be firm about that over here. Ivanovic would have been splendid if bought over knezevic, but now buying him would flood us with CBs. We need an RB and an LB for fucks sake, most of our conceded goals have been set up from the flanks. We have leggro and melberg at cb, they're definitely not the best in the world, but they're above average to say the least. Working on buying a good RB (and) or LB, will further relieve pressure on our centers.

Kolodin was the guy with a great shot.
No-one in Russian back 4 impressed defensively and i don't think the Russians have a defender who'll do great in Juve.

We have spent not so much money during this mercato, so I assume we have capabilities to throw about 20m for a top quality defender and Zapata would be my choice. If not, then Felipe should be available for a more suiting our board sum.
If we aim to buy a young promising defender and Zapata is out of reach, then Kompany is a very good solution, he's solid and does miracles at times. If we aim to buy or loan an overrated youngster from EPL then Senderos, although being mediocre, at least played sometimes last season unlike Ivanović. What I mean is that Ivanović isn't a solution at all in our situation, even Stendardo/Campagnaro/Dainelii would do better, because they know Serie A well and can play at predictable decent level at once.

Is Italy-Austria this Wednesday ?
If it is then i really don't understand why did Ranieri play Chiellini tonight, since he was also going to play on Wednesday for Italy.

Sissoko, Chiellini and Del Piero were the 3 guys Ranieri shouldn't have fielded tonight because this friendly was absolutely meaningless and they are key players in our team.
We already qualified for CL and the remaining friendlies weren't important at all.
