I'm afraid we're not gonna buy anyone, Ranieri would more likely switch Molinaro to CB hoping it has the same effect on him as it did with Chiellini.

This board is limiting itself to the long-term recovery plan. If the transferbudget was spent more wisely the last two years, we'd almost be like the old Juve by now. All it took were like 3 players, but the right ones for the right roles.

Without Chiellini and with no new CB I'd field this:

Zebina - Mellberg - Legro - De Ceglie

So because other clubs don't want him he's shit lol m8,but try to base an opinion on someone you have watched.
But you've got to admit, the fact that nobody good in England wanted him looks VERY bad. Afterall, all the big clubs played Villa and I'm sure they scouted the player, yet I never recall one rumor of Mellberg to even a club like Leeds AFTER they were put into administration.

But then, you have people saying he's a very good defender and he'll prove us all wrong. What's that supposed to mean? People even call Knezevic a good player but we'll see how many times these "good players" fuck up at the back for us. These guys are in no way class yet people make them out to be.
I agree but I never said they were.:p

Yes it does look Anal that other clubs around England diden't want him.So perhaps my argument for him is useless.

Cut the IVANOVIC crap. I can almost bet that 70% of the guys screaming for him havent seen him play. And he's been frozen out with Chelsea, do you expect him to do miracles?
We need a PROVEN player, not an Ivanovic. We might as well get a primavera CB in stead of wasting money on a loan for him.
Good point, Ivanovic will not really work miracles. As far as I know, he doesn't speak Italian, and the season starts in 2 weeks. Legro and Mellberg aren't really communicaters from what I observe, so it will be difficult playing with defenders who can't understand each other. Ivanovic would have been good if we had Chiellini, and we wouldn't have to rucsh the dude into action. We really need someone from Serie A who can speak Italian and will be ready to jump into the team. And I acn't think of much good options besides Zapata whi is unrealistic anyway.

I have a feeling Criscito is who we will resort to.

Ivanovic was bought by Chelsea. Until few days ago he was wanted by Milan. Galliani flew to London to arange the deal.
At the end Chelsea didn't want to let him go to Milan.

Milan wants a player and Chelsea doesn't want to sell them the player.
There must be something good about the guy if he's wanted by Milan and if Chelsea don't want to let him go for 2+12m euro, he ?

anyone think we just might re-call Criscito? (not that that he is the best option, but it's still a possible scenario if you look at it from our board's perspective)

I think we should sign Alex from Chelsea. I am not a huge fan of the guy but he is pretty solid in the back and might work out pretty good for us. Maybe Chiellini and him could create a good partnership. Knowing Secco he wont have any idea what player to buy and fail again, so we might have to stick with putting Poulsen in the CB position. Poulsen played pretty well as CB for Sevilla. I would say go for Alex or Ivoniovic. They are two good CB's we can get. Secco wont get them though and i guarentee that Raneri wont want any new players in the team. Oh well we might have to stick it out for a while.

It has to do with Galliani's actions I am afraid, you know the Kaka rumors.
I don't think so. Chelsea were willing to let him go on loan but they didn't even want to hear about selling him (or loan+rights to buy).
If they didn't want to have anything to do with Milan they wouldn't have let him go on loan.
Milan on the other hand wanted only a loan deal+rights to buy.

There is a very famous Croatian agent, Naletelic. He works with Milan a lot and Milan signed many world class players through him. Milan never ever signed a bad player when Naletelic was involved.
He's the one who's been telling them to sign Ivanovic (he's not Ivanovic's agent) for a year already and in an interview he said that it's been a long long time since he saw such a classy defender like Ivanovic.
He also has great connections in Chelsea and he was also involved in the potential Ivanovic to Milan transfer, but he couldn't do shit because Chelsea didn't even want to think about selling the guy (to anyone, not only Milan)

At this point in time, if we could manage to snare Ivanovic, it would be a fucking miracle. He's young, he's solid, he's very mobile, he's not cup tied...

He may not speak Italian, but I'm sure he can speak some English - which means that he could communicate with the coach, and several of the players... It would take a little bit of time (and there would be some mistakes), but football is football and it could be worked out...

The example that he didn't break into Chelsea's starting lineup is fairly pointless, especially given the race they were in at the end of last year - can anyone name another team IN ALL OF CLUB FOOTBALL that has the quality/depth at CB that Chelsea have? Off the top of my head, I can't.

Plus, if we could get Branislav, it would be a beautiful FUCK YOU to Milan.

I don't know. Why wouldn't anybody want him if he's truly a good defender? Just doesn't make any sense.

Sort of just demonstrates that he's a mid-table leader.

Alex is seen as Chelsea's back up to Terry and Carvalho. Why on earth would they sell Alex if they don't want to sell the 2nd back up Ivanovic?
