He may have legit reasons to leave and we may have legit reasons to let him go. But I think staying for one season more wasn’t harmful at all. Yes, probably we will not win the CL. But Real Madrid wasn’t expected to win it in 2015-2016 after the Benitez’s disaster. I’m sure he wants to leave because he believes that Messi has a great probability of winning the CL at PSG and he doesn’t.

For me everything looks very simple. He wants a CL winning calibre club. We are clearly not of that calibre right now.
Messi moving to PSG surely messed with his ego. The midget got a real shot at CL/ballon d’or glory again while Ronaldo playing for this poor ass Juventus would be lucky to reach the quarter finals.

This. He doesn’t wanna be remembered not winning shit at the end of his career while Messi could be the best in the world for a number of years.

He doesn't want to play in a side that isn't competitive in Europe and we can't afford to pay his wages. Its shitty but CR7 and suitors got our balls in a vice grip. .

I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to sell him but other clubs knew all they had to do was wait us out.

I don't see a way that this ends particularly well for Juventus.

You know whats funny...

I never though I'll see the day where somebody propose an exchange between Gabriel Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo and the other part said.. naaaah I prefer to keep Gabriel Jesus...

Talk about a strange transfer window...

Maybe he doesn't like the direction the club is heading?

It might be hard to swallow, but there could be legit reasons why he wants out of this place. I could probably name a bunch.
It’s not even just direction, positive or negative overall. Even if we’re getting younger and building a more promising future than we had a couple years ago, so perhaps a positive in that sense. We are a big negative from the perspective of Ronaldo as we don’t align with any version of a Ronaldo timeline for being a top CL contender.

Iirc Adidas money was a ~27m increase per year. Over 10 years that’s peanuts?
Yes, because we are really underpaid before, so even without CR7 transfer we need to negotiate for that kind amount of money
As comparison Real Madrid getting 110m per season from 2019 for 10 years contract with Adidas(even after CR7 left them)
Barca getting around the same number too (less than Real Madrid, but not by far)

Covid raped us of cash too the past 12 plus months.

100m Fee and 90m in net wages over the past 3 seasons...Ronaldo shouldn't be the one complaining here...or am I miscalculating something and have it all wrong.
We paid 117m for the transfer fee, and for his wages we paid total around 54m per year (including taxes). So if we calculated all the money we spent on him it is 117 + (3x54) = 351m. And Manc City will give us nil, zero because no one really want him. This is the financially flop transfer if we compare with what Inter done with Lukaku (and his goal contribution is merelyless or same than CR7 in the last 2 years). But they still can capitalize on his transfer while we just burn the money

Can you tell me how exactly you guys would feel compensated for Ronaldo deal then? We got all this cash right after he joined and you still are not satisfied?
We negotiated a contract with Adidas in 2015 for 23m a season. For whatever reason Ronaldo’s arrival strengthened our negotiating position so much that we resigned for more than double that money. What happened? We suddenly grew a spine?

I think it´s crucial to replace him. We´re a very injury-prone team as well and both Dybala and Morata historically always misses time each season. Which leaves us with Kaio who´s injured now.
Yeah, I understand but that's 3 strikers for 1 positions already and we'd want a fourth? That is madness.

why not just sell McKennie and do both?
Fine by me (even if I'd rather keep the Mac) but I still think this squad needs trimming. We can't list everyone in our CL list. Still 2 or 3 players need to go with Pellegrini gone for sure in the last days.
