It still is about 8-10mil total though, for half a player...
and not even a starter,
his price cant be 16-20 at any case, this is not a good transfer strategy and if we gonna pay like 15-25 mil for Barzagli too that would make a crazy sum for a CB twin,
considering our financial status its a disaster,
we need those cash and we just throw them away like that,
our rookie managers will ruin our chances to bounce back...

I think the half share of the players are separate deals. According to the press release by Juventus: -
Agreements with Genoa C.F.C S.p.A

Turin, 25 January 2007 - Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has terminated in its favour the current player sharing agreement (ex art. 102 bis NO.I.F.) with Genoa C.F.C. S.p.A. concerning the registration rights of the player Domenico Criscito. The sum decided for the termination has been set at €7.5 million, payable in 3 years.
The player, who will remain on free loan to Genoa until the end of the current football season, has extended his contract with Juventus until 30 June 2011.
At the same time, Juventus has transferred to Genoa it player sharing rights (ex art. 102 bis N.O.I.F.) with A.C. Siena S.p.A concerning the registration rights of the players Andrea Masiello (for a sum of € 1.25 million, payable in 3 years) and Abdoulay Konko (for a sum of € 1 million, payable in 3 years).
Personally, I'd have tried to get more for the two youngsters.

sounds a bit pricey for a relatively unproven defender, just hope he is worth it. Lets face it, he can't be any less reliable than good old Jean-Alain.

Good to hear we are actually interested in young, Italian players and not just every foreigner under the sun which is how it has seemed lately.

It's a complicated issue. The 5m is a number I saw on j1897. We bought his 1st half in 2004 for peanuts and now Genoa valued him 15m €. Too much IMO but with Secco we probably would have lost him this summer and another team would have bought him.
Criscito set for Juve recall Thursday 25 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Domenico Criscito will return to Juventus at the end of the season after impressing with Genoa this term.

The 20-year-old, who started his career in the Rossoblu youth system, returned to the Liguri side in a co-ownership deal with the Old Lady, who last week confirmed their interest in the youngster.

The Bianconeri agreed to hand over £5.3m for the defender, plus the co-ownership of Andrea Masiello and Abdoulay Konko with Siena.
Criscito, who played in Juve’s youth team between 2004 and 2006, will remain with the Grifoni until the end of the season before joining the Bianconeri on a four-year contract.

The youngster made his debut for the Italy Under-21s in 2006 in the goalless draw with the Czech Republic, where he met Raffaele Palladino, his future teammate and a great admirer of his qualities.

“He’s a fine player, a real talent who can only improve with time, especially from a physical point of view,” insisted Palladino.

“He’s a fantastic defender, he doesn’t let his man out of his sight and he is very hard to get past. He’s also a brilliant guy who I speak to often – it’s going to be great to have him here.”

Sick Deal!!! Lets hope he will be the leading defender of our team in 2-3 years !
..

Channel4 says 5.3m Pounds, while the news in Italian says 5.25 Euro. So which one it? If its in Pounds, then thats absolutely nutts!

this is getting sicker

5mil Dollar, euro or Pound plus two players is too much for half ownership of some Serie B Defender, I hope our guys knows what they are doing, we don't need another Olivera, specially at times like these when we need every penny of our budget.

Totally agree with you Seven. It's ridiculous now; if you're not sure about a player, sell them. If you have a good feeling, purchase them and loan them out for a season or two.

Are we buying our own players now?
He was never ours completely, we bought ½ of him for a small amount in 2004 and now we bought the rest for 7.5m €(includes our half of Masiello and Konko).

well, i saw him a few times and i was impressed but not that impressed. Its alot of many for young criscito.
But I dont mind putting up that kind of money for a good player and there is alot of potential in the kid.

However my problem is with Secco, now our player could be helping another team challenge us for promotion. WHY is that? why isnt he here now or even in freaking Verona or Siena on loan.

Genoa r our direct opponents for promotion, and hes playing for them.

genoa never a threat to Juve. this kid is good but not good enough to stop DP and Trezegol marking their goals, otherwise we should call him a new nesta or something like that
