I still stand by my post...for all the other games this season. DP is way too reliant on others for my liking, Zlatan has shown he can create for himself...but DP....I'm sorry to say...he just can't cut it anymore.

As for Nedved, he's only just back from injury, so his criticism is a little harsh I feel. If we had adequate backup for him then I'm sure Capello would have either subbed him or not played him so much in the last week. Again, it comes down to squad size...please let Moggi buy someone creative this summer.

As for in general, both DP and Zlatan, the latter in particular, have created chances for themselves and others on their better days but DP doesn't do this often enough and Zlatan's finishing isn't up to par. I'm confident that if we had a more creative midfield with better passers Del Piero especially would benefit a great deal. Having forwards who can create chances for themselves is wonderful and DP can still do that every now and again, but it isn't that easy when your midfield isn't capable of carrying out their supporting duties. If the service to DP was better I'm sure he would create more and Zlatan would be ripping apart defences with his physical power and skill like there's no tomorrow.

I forgot to talk about the Nedved part so here goes. If we had a better bench it would obviously be a lot easier for us but we did well with the 4-3-3 when Pavel was injured and given his poor form and lack of match fitness I feel we could have left him out.

Anyone else made the Connection Ivanov-Abrahamovic ? as far as blame goes, though Pool definitely gets credit, Capello takes most of it for the simple reason that players are to be blamed for gross mistakes (not doing their job) or not trying hard enough. It was obvious that the formation we put out there wasnt getting the job done and Capello, the Coach, didnt fix that. I really dont buy the idea that the lads didnt have it in them. Outside Will there are other factors or should i say limitations that hinder performence fatigue and mis-"cast" just to name a few.

Right on. The fatal flaw was in going in playing for the 1-0 win and nothing more. We didn't go in playing to outright win it at any cost: 2-0, 3-1, etc. It's like we wasted the entire first half just feeling out Liverpool, keeping things close and being content with that, and waiting for an opportunity to pounce. Patience is a virtue, but not when you need to score and your team hasn't proven its ability to get the opportunistic goal when needed under pressure ... say, the way Milan has.

I think Capello wanted his team to play the quick passing game last night, however our players are obviously not adept at doing so. After 75 minutes we started to panic and that's when I knew we were in trouble. I doubt Capello sent our boys out to play "route 1 football" because that does not work against English teams. I just think our players started to panic and became frustrated as Liverpool shut up shop, and we obviously do not have enough firepower to breakdown teams whose mission is to sit back for a draw.

Yeah I was pretty sure you played, just making sure.

To me it didn't look like the players even tried to play a quick passing game so I don't think Capello gave such an instruction and he should have called over the player closest to the touchline and told him to tell the team to cut out the long ball foolishness. As I've said, Capello isn't totally to blame as the midfield was shite and the squad he has at his disposal isn't as strong as I think it should be, but he was still at fault and I think we agree on that.

What makes this even more funny is that we had so many injured players, and two of our players came onto the pitch playing their first games back from injury, one for over 3 months and the other 6 months. So not only did we have a second string team, some of those playing were walking wounded, yet we made you look like a second rate team.

It wasn't that easy considering he had to stretch and the ball neither sat up nicely for him to volley nor stayed low for him to place it but a player that receives all the accolades that Zlatan does should be doing better with chances like that. As good as he is I think he's a tad overrated.

about the zlatan mis, if u see the replay again, u can see that there was 2 defenders before zlatan, and he most have thougt that the ball would not go thru them and go to him.. imo, thats why he dident get a good leg to it, and scored! BUT, **** it now..

Zlatan miss was really bad. The kid sometimes reminds me of Baros. Baros was causing all sorts of problems for Leverkusen and then after that against Everton but the guys just cannot finish. They say he needs confidence but he can run past 2 defenders, and confidence should be flying after that, but then he misses.

I cam up with a theory just off the top of my head during Euro04 which may sound wierd. I think i remember Sweden going into penalties with some team and Zlatan was up to take one...I just remembered looking at the guy and saying..."I just get nervous when lanky players step up to shoot from a dead ball. Ibrahimovic seems like he doesn't have any kind of composure" - I don't know??
