Juventus CAN afford expensive signings. Not many of them but I guess 2-3 would do. We probably have the money for their wages too. Another thing is how much Juventus is willing to spend on new signings. If we want to rebuild the whole team in one season I think that is impossible cause Juventus don´t want to splash all the cash on 5-6 expensive players. We need to stabilise first and ensure that we get more profit next season from sponsors, TV, etc. Then it comes Champions League and more money, etc... Juventus also have a large number of players on loan and co-owned. So, before Juve can sign some serious players they have to SELL FIRST. Then the big signings will come. You took these statements in a different context, mate.

Juve Begin Swoop For Chivu Or Mexes

Embryonic reports emanating from Italian paper La Stampa (The Printing Press) indicate that Juventus are targeting the Roma squad to reinforce the Bianconeri as they make their return to Serie A heaven after a year spent in Serie B hell…

Juve movers-and-shakers Bettega (pictured) and Secco have been spotted meeting with the Giallorosso sporting director Daniele Pradè. The grapevine is rustling with talk of either Chivu or Mexes being snapped up by the Old Lady.

The meeting took place at the Fiumicino Hilton, the idea being to bring Deschamps one or the other, although the Frenchman allegedly has a softer spot for his fellow countryman than for the Romanian and has asked for Mexes over Chivu – if possible.

Pundits see this as an initial taking of positions by both sides as Roma aren’t against a lucrative sale of one or the other – but not both if at all humanly possible. Both players are in a similar contractual position with similar wages and ages.

With contacts running out in 2008 its time to either renew or sell the players rather than see them waltz out of the club on a free transfer at the end of next season leaving Roma empty-handed.

While no figures have been disclosed, the cognoscenti are talking of an initial offer of seven million Euros – although Roma are expected to hold out for double figures before shaking hands. Both players are expected to ask for around 2.5 million Euros per season – in Rome or Turin.

I really hope Secco and Bettega pull this one off.

While not 100% yet in all area's of the game(Chivu suffers from random off-days where he does everything wrong, after playing a perfect game the week before and Mexes at times loses his head), I rate both Mexes and Chivu highly.

i'd imagine about 15 million euros, but we should be able to get him for about 10-12 million, but i'd prefer Mexes as he is a steal at 10.5million
That's a bargain price for player like Mexes is. He is young, good and already settled and proved player in Italy. I prefer him over Chivu and ofcourse Heinze and other defender we are linked.

Though it would be great, I don't see any of the two joining us. They seemed to have developed the Roman hatred towards our club very quickly, especially Mexes. Between the two, we have a better chance in getting Chivu. But I'm pretty sure both will extend with Roma, CL being a big part of it as well.

i mean juve cant compete with milan since they could offer him more money
Maaan, you're really pesimistic person, I bet you are still sure we will not enter in A. Didn't you red that Mexes have a pretty low release clause, and if we offer that kind of money it must be accepted, so milan can offer 100 milions and we still can get him.
