Mexes is a better cb than Chivu. Mexes is the best cb we have been linked with. If Juve managed to sign him, thats a very big signing, as Mexes is arguably 1 of the best in serie a.

Milito/Mexes, Barzagli/Mexes, both are fine with me.

Mexes is a better man-marker for sure, but Chivu wins by the virtue of his ability to organise defence and start off the attack from his distribution. I can name quite a few Mexes-likes in the world, but one would rarely find the mold of Chivu IMHO. I can't see any reason why Chivu is anyway inferior to Nesta or Terry other than he plays for Roma so people don't recognise him as much. Nedved was hardly known outside hardcore fanbase throughout the world before his move to Juve, but that hardly means he was never good player before.

But SECO say's club is buying only three player: a central defender, on at middiel and one at attack ... and Mexes really is one at top defender in these days... i really like him and he is young

Chivu is the best bet around.

Mexes gives Totti a run for his money in IQ test - And God I never thought that could have been possible. Mexes probably have more tools than Chivu, but man the latter is a real player not just an athelete. Chivu is the most complete defender in the world IMO; he got everything; positioning, distribution, tackle, and most importantly leadership. Roma arent selling their most prized asset for sure. I say go for Milito or Lucio.
Ugh Lucio. I would rather have Andrea Barzagli back there... now thats a statement.

I don't understand the hate around Lucio. I know he can be a bit clumsy, but the guy is pretty comfortable on the ball, he is very good man-to-man defender, and has vast experience at all levels. But I must admit Lucio will shorten somebody's life for sure.

All I've heard my best friend bitch about during Bayern matches is Lucio this, Lucio that, goddamnit, Lucio cost us another goal. I could only imagine Lucio in Juventus... my blood pressure cannot take much more than that, Jun. :D

Haha after Montero -

I think I can take anything.

But man, Lucio impressed me in Milan vs Bayern. I thought the penalty he gave away wasnt a penalty, and the the manner he smothered Kaka whenever mercurial brazilian showed any signs of mazy run was simply brilliant. But then again, consistency will be the key to any signing this season we get, and I don't know too much about that.

Ask any Bayern supporter and they'll tell you Lucio isn't very consistent. One day he can be amazing, the next he could be a complete disaster. I saw that a couple years ago when Bayern played Chelsea, and after that, I wouldn't want to give him a job at Juve.

If Lucio isnt consistent as people say, then I am a bit drawn back. Then again, I am having a hard time that is (1) recognised, (2) talented, (3) vastly experienced at all levels, which Lucio unduly satisfies. Milito is another obvious choice, and I would welcome him with all heart, but then the realistic targets (which Chivu & Mexes are not IMHO) are not that enticing.

Heinze doesnt seem naturally leader at the back.

Barzagli lacks pace.

Criscito hasnt even played a single game of Serie A

Alex is Chelsea bound.

Then again there is a reason why scouts get paid, and I don't work for FC.:D

Chivu won't be transferred, I agree. Rosella will be burned alive at the Vatican next day. I mean, you loose Chivu and Mexes, because you don't want to pay them as much as Hargreaves, Pizzaro, Lucas Neil? I cant stop laughing.

Serie A - Mexes ready to stay

Serie A - Roma defender Philippe Mexes is ready to commit his future to the Giallorossi. The French stopper has just one year left on his contract with the Stadio Olimpico outfit, but will sign a new deal with the capital club as soon as terms are agreed.

Mexes, 25, has reportedly been the focus of interest from Milan and Real Madrid, both of whom are thought to be willing to offer substantially more money than Roma are.

But Mexes has always made clear his desire to stay with this year's Champions League quarter-finalists and his agent is currently in talks with the club to negotiate a new deal.

"I'm linked with everyone, as usual, but ultimately, there is nothing concrete," Mexes told L'Equipe.

"I haven't changed my mind. I have never said I want to leave. I love Roma, the team spirit and the atmosphere. I feel good in Rome. If I can reach an agreement with the club, I am ready to extend my contract. There's no problem.

"Ideally, the situation will sort itself out over the coming days, allowing me to go on holiday or join up with the French national team with peace of mind."

Mexes would be a great buy but we won´t get any of them, neither Chivu or Mexes.

I think the board gave up on Barzagli too. That´s very good.

We will probably end up with Heinze though. Not very good.

Why havent we signed Barza? Palermo creating problems? Secco not trying hard enough?

And Heinze welll I can live with that he has been relatively solid for Man U and PSG
