I'm pretty sure that he didn't make it up, but from what i understood from the article it's his word against Van Damme's word. Van Damme has denied the allegations. So what should the Belgian FA do?
Issue a statement saying that the Belgian FA does not tolerate such behavior and will investigate the matter fully. Basically what any organization would do.

And what does this investigation entail?
Basically ask the players on the field what happened, interview the refs, etc. Find out if Onyewu's allegations have any weight (are they true). If so take appropriate actions such as a fine or suspension... whatever the league decides. If the allegations aren't true then the league has done nothing but show a serious stance against racism in football. That approach is a win-win situation.

Aha, well i don't know what really happened after that. I only know that Onyewu reported this to the referee during the match, and Van Damme denied it, again during the match, so what happened after that is something i don't know, but i know that he just opened the door for everyone to sue everyone for something whispered to him in his ear during a football match. Someone will even invent things and sue a player for something that has never been said to him. Why not?

Jeez, i swear that if someone told me yesterday about this, without mentioning the name of the player who's suing, i'd have known that it's an American player (no matter black or white american).

    Anyway, Onyewu, you suck.
    Sue me!

Don't you think that Onyewu is a primadonna? I'd expect something like this from, lets say, Tiago, who's a pussy to do something on the pitch, but this Onyewu guy looks like a big dude who can solve these problems on the pitch.
If he was smart enough not to reply and to stay calm during the match, then why didn't he use his head to think that suing a football player for something said to you during a match will make you a laughing stock in the eyes of the world?

If only Cristiano Ronaldo knew this earlier. That dude is getting insulted left and right. He could've made millions if he was suing every EPL defender for being called a fag.

Nah, he's just not really aware of the concept of racism. Europeans just don't think the same way we do. They aren't supporting or denying racism. They just don't know better.

It's no different to us than any other kind of discrimination. Whereas to you racism is huge, but gay bashing or religious intolerance or various other types of insulting behavior are secondary.

Knowing enough to keep your head on the pitch and know European (Belgian) laws are two completely different things. Just because he wasn't able to pound Van Damme's head in during the (playoff) match doesn't mean he wasn't angry about it. I'm sure Standard fans are happy he acted like a primadonna and didn't fight the other player since they did win.

Naw, gay bashing is moving pretty high up the list these days unless you're from Wyoming or you belong to the Neo Nazis (we aren't Russia).

I don't agree with that, but if someone chooses to live and work in Europe, surely they have to accept that Europe has a different attitude and different standards?
