Just because Cassano was awful doesn't mean Balotelli was good. I don't like Di Natale, but even he or Matri deserved a chance more than him.
I didn't say that at all. I disagree about the second part though I think Matri should have been taken, Balotelli is too much of a SS and not enough of a CF with a decent physical presence i.e. Matri.

BravoItalJuve that was a great fight there. Pirlo is a freaking mastermind.. Challenge is now to recover quick to meet ze germans. The laters have got plenty of rest and that could be a deciding factor by the time its second half.

It's the English media's fault really. They overhype Balotelli just like they do with all their crappy players. Rooney is the white Pele, Hart is the best goalkeeper, Gerrard is the best midfielder. They only watch the Premiership and they think there is no football anywhere else. Balotelli is the only Italian there, therefore he must be the best Italian. That's why in the end of every World Cup or Euro they wonder what happened. "These guys are so good every week in the league, why can't they perform on the big stage?".

And Harry Redknapp once again spouting out the lame "EPL is the benchmark" garbage. Why must everyone associated with English Football be so fucking deluded and arrogant?

90% of the starting lineup last night would make it in most EPL teams.

What the fffffuck is all this about on Balotelli. I couldn't give a fffffuck. Would rather someone firing from all angles regardless if on target or not or missing chances. Least he was in the thick of it and I'd rather that than nothing

Balotelli was not great, but certainly not a liability. Cassano on the other hand needs shipped back home to make way for others. He finally gets a chance to represent his national team in his first major international tourney and he doesn't even bother to try and contribute towards the game. What the hell.

Get a grip man. Cassano has been sick and not playing for over 6-7 months. What he has done so far is quite impressive, but I agree that I wouldn't start him next match.

120 min in the legs, 2 days less to prepare and some injury problems... italy will get eliminated this time from the germans. we will see a great match but i guess italy will be tired after 60 mins.

I take it you're referring to him getting ready to be there being quite (better yet, very) impressive?

Surely not what he's done on the pitch though. He is, by far, the weakest link out there, now that Giac has made way. And it is fair to say that he probably should not have been called up, let alone be considered the sure starter up front.

Yes, obviously.

In my opinion, both Cassano and Balotelli are those types of player you just can't leave out. Even though Cassano has had some bad games, he can create magic out of nowhere and leaving him out is too big of a risk.

I don't mind him being called up, but Prandelli should have the balls to bench him.

Who could replace Balotelli and Cassano? Jewstinko is out of his depth on this level, Di Natale is a choker and Borini is too inexperienced.
