I defend Marchisio for various reasons that I have already posted. There is a reason why Marchisio outscored Melo, not to mention was a hell of a lot better than him in cards as well (and suspensions). Aside from the mental aspects of the game that Melo lacks, he is a really good DM...I never said he wasn't.

Apart from getting sent off against Parma and a few poor passes last season that led to goal, what exactly can you blame Melo for?

In terms of playing to a certain standard when we consider his ability, Melo was more consistent than Krasic, Marchisio, and Aquilani season, probably being our most consistent midfielder all together. I think it was fairy well admitted that he was our best CM last season.

If we're trying to sell him, we are idiots. Period. He's not going to fetch enough to truly improve the squad.



Don't worry, I bet you many who talk up Vidal haven't seen him play either.

I wouldn't say he's Hernanes, a player who plays further up the pitch. Vidal is best described as an all-action box-to-box midfielder who can really do it all. He would be a perfect fit next to Pirlo and Melo.

But I completely agree with this especially the bold part. Felipe Melo can fulfill his potential only if he has a wining team built around him. And a midfield like you mentioned plus a great team spirit would bring the best out of Melo.

RB I think is pretty much covered now with Licht.

Ziegler/De Ceglie has a CHANCE to be better than what was thrown out there this year.

I think that it is safe to say that Pirlo, although not what he used to be, can be far more productive and useful than Aquilani could ever hope to be

In regards to CB, Chiellini is a lock, and to me anyway, Bonucci showed some real potential, although he did make his fair share of mistakes. However, I do think that adding Licht will allow Bonucci to concentrate more on his area of the pitch defensively, and not have to try and slide over to cover up for Motta and Grygera like he did last season.

LW is definitely a position of need, or at least a LM who can cover all facets of the game, depending on what formation Conte decides to use.

In regards to the striker position, although you and others say that it is not a position of need, Juve have waited far too long to get someone that can replace Del Piero for the future.

Yes, if we play 4-4-2, if we fix those 2 positions, I dont mind spending some cash to upgrade Melo.
But what we see every year is spending zero cash, or minimal cash on the left wing and most of our cash to bring more cms and ss.
The investments (resources, time, salaries) on ss and cms never end, tiago, almiron, sissoko, diego, melo, poulsen, candevra, pazienza, pirlo, iaq, amauri, quaq, toni, matri etc.
Did we honestly needed to buy all of them, before we get a 10 mil fullback???
Yet we coulnt afford 5 mil more to add to martinez price, in order to get a proper neddy replacement...
Just look at the sheer nunbers we are buying every year for those two positions, while we had players like grygera, molinaro and grosso as starters...and this keeps happening fir 5 years...

Just as you claim Marchisio was sub par doesn't mean the rest of the team wasn't either. Everyone sucked but Marchisio is the new punching bag for whatever reason because he isn't flashy. He rarely ever made mistakes and when he does don't result in goals or serious scoring threats, something you can't say the same about Melo. Not sure where many of the arguments stem from, I try to listen, I try to understand...but, alas I guess like the jinx I am I will go ahead and take the Marchisio fanboy tag with me as well since that's all I am.

With the amount of attacking Grosso did, that damn goon rarely actually for any length of time in a left back position, marchisio had even more support on that side of midfield. Its wrong to suggest that Marchisio played predominantly on the left wing, as he actually played on the left side of a central midfield trio.

Where is marchisio's natural position then, hustini? or anyone else??? he is far less tenacious and capable in the challenge to play as 1 of a midfield duo, unless his partner is much stronger, and gets involved more. With Pirlo, he would be awful...way out of his depth. I feel sorry for the lad, as he simply has not progressed these last 12 months, his form and development have stagnated. and i hope he proves me and his other many doubters wrong this season.

He played the majority of this season as the LM...no way does that suite him at all. Of course he is going to disappear when played constantly out of position. He would do well in a 433 and in the past he did do a pretty good job in that role, but that was never the case with him. He is suited perfectly for that IMO.

Grosso is a horrible player and did not offer support to him at all. No one really did in that team. If he is moving forward on the ball as a LM he only had options like IQ/Amauri who are also equally horrible in their roles...it is no coincidence we did well when Quag was in form and playing because he is a million times more intelligent than the prior two mentioned. Matri as well...this gives marchisio at least a couple options going forward, and when that stopped with quags injury things fell apart when building the attack and when DP played we were able to create again. Going now into the middle, he only had a misfiring aquilani as support and Melo when he was playing...don't even get me started on Sissoko. Then, when forced to go back because the LB offered no support going foward he of course is going to look weak when he has to play it back.

Del Neri was so bad at creating a team with any kind of fluid movement and intelligent runs off the ball, its no coincidence on the TV screen our team looked as bad as it did...and our results showed it. Being the fanboy I am, I am 100% confident Marchisio would do well in either:

A) 433

B) A team with intelligent players that can move. Not these idiot one dimensional Pepe's as the LM or Martinez being played out of position there.
