He played the majority of this season as the LM....
No he did not, Hustini. Other than against Inter when he was sacrificed to completely blunt Maicon, he almost always bunched up in the middle to make a midfield trio. Its not an opinion, its where he played. I saw it with my own eyes...regardless of the 'official formation' showing him as a left midfield in a midfield 4. Krasic was NEVER a RM, althoug he was always shown as such on a formation sheet or screen. the formation was much more a 4-3-3 or a 4-3-1-2, with that 1 been Krasic wide right, somewhere between a right winger and a right wing forward.

Grosso was shocking, but in the brief flashes when he was useful, it was when he was attacking. whereas on the opposite flank, sorensen hardly attacked at all, and krasic did not like to track back, so Melo had more work to do there. A weak but true point.

You could say that the trio of midfielders would work far better with a stronger, more intelligently moving offence, and a much more balanced defence. That would make sense...maybe in that situation, Marchisio would be brilliant in a 3, but last season, when we often looked like we had 3 in midfield, he was generally poor, not making mistakes as such, but consistently failing to impose himself on an area of the pitch where its essential to impose yourself. Its easy to see that he used to play as a tre quartista, as he is very easily outmuscled when playing as a CM/DM...that also explains why he scores more than Melo; offensively he is a much better player.

True all that...let us hope, he will step up his game this year, as he will be starting no matter what.

Yep, I am. Disregard Deneb's post...that guy is crazy. :D
I'm not a big fan of his. I can surely appreciate the fact that he came up through the youth system, but aside from the amazing goal once every so often, I don't see any one aspect that he does particularly well. I think that sometimes the criticism levied against him might be unwarranted, but in all honesty, he tends to go missing quite a bit during the majority of the matches. It's one thing if you are a static striker, where you only need a couple of moments of brilliance to show your worth in a match, but a midfielder like him should be involved more in the flow of matches.

I can't say that he was being played out of position, per se, as Lo-Pan had mentioned. He tended to drift towards the center of the pitch more often than not.

don't get me wrong, he's still failry young (25), and maybe this system, whatever Conte decides to use, will be beneficial to him.

I just don't know how to categorize him as a midfielder.

The way everyone is describing this guy (Granted, I have never seen him play), he sounds a lot like Hernanes.

Am I off base on this?
I haven't seen Hernanes play in a deeper role, so he may be like Vidal if deployed differently.

Vidal, to me, is basically a better version of Marchisio; a mobile and fairly complete midfielder.

Like Andy said, Vidal would be a great choice to play with Pirlo and a DM in a midfield three.

Juventus wants at all costs Vidal the track for Lass has now cooled.
:tuttosport::tuttosport::tuttosport:

Most of you here have def not seen Vidal play yet. Ive been following him since i saw him at the u21 world cup in Canada and have kept tabs on him ever since..with Colo Colo in the copa Sudamericana and then with Bayer Leverkusen.

He is a monster in the middle of the pitch!!

If Marotta pulls this off id be ecstatic!!He is a Di Livio/Deschamps/Paolo Sosa type of player but with much better technique and an attacking drive in his game

But im skeptical..given last year and this jan we signed players like Martinez,Barzagli,Luca Toni..I'm shocked that Marotta is starting to look at quality players only

Di livio was nothing like deschamps who was similar but not hugely to sousa...Di livio was a little soldier, a great engine, extremely determined, proud, solid techincally, okay pace, and spartan stamina. Sousa played in front of the defence, as did deschamps, but he tackled less than the frenchman and also had a greater passing ability, especially over distance.

still, roll all those into one, take didier's tackling and reading of the game, paolo's passing and interceptions and ebility to dictate the pace of a game, then chuck in di livio's determination and engine...you make Vidal seem like a potential world beater.

Thanks yo.

Another question. When you say "go missing"...how do you define that? It can't be taken quite literally because if it was that would mean he has literally walked off the pitch. What is it that defines "gone missing"?

Ugh, I hate saying no to FIFA...or video games in general...and I hate when I make a commitment and then someone else asks me to do something that is more fun. :D
