You do get cases where teams are really good at playing at a consistent level through a season (which is exactly what is needed to hoover up league titles), but lack the ability to occasionally raise their game on the odd occasion through a season when it is required (which is what is needed to win cup competitions).

Former Inter striker Ronaldo paid a surprise visit to the Juventus training ground today and was pictured embracing Coach Antonio Conte.

The Brazilian was part of perhaps the most famous incident of tension between Inter and Juventus, when he had penalty appeals waved away in Turin.

Clearly Ronaldo holds no hard feelings, as he visited the Vinovo trainingground to meet with Conte and the players ahead of today’s session.

He then had a tour of the Juventus Stadium and the J-Museum.

Ronaldo is a member of the organising committee for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and is currently in Turin to prepare for tomorrow’s Press conference presenting the Confederations Cup.

Always disliked him. He was a great player no doubt, but a bit overrated by the media.

Gabriel Batistuta was miles better and never got the attention this guy was getting.

My personal view.
