[Champions League] Frozen Kebab 1-0 JUVENTUS (Dec. 11th 2013)

It's just mind numbing. A team full of foreign players, funded by overseas tv contracts because of fans around the world. Yet this local snobbery exists, it doesn't even make sense in the modern game.

Those remarks are acceptable now? Please try them on someone in the street, or imagine saying it during the 19th century, 15th century, any time in history, and the reaction of people. For a large period of history, however, it was perfectly normal for one group of people to insult, enslave...

At which point in history have those kind of remarks been as acceptable as racist remarks once were?

I know, but a flop is a flop. I might have missed a couple of smaller ones, but generally they were for teams on a downward spiral.

They don't fall into the 'European giant' category, especially these days (irrelevant), but they finished 3rd in a group won by Sturm Graz, having beaten Sturm Graz 4-0 at home in their first game. This was one of the best Rangers teams of the modern era, they were heavily bankrolled, so an...

That's what happens when people exaggerate to make a point. - - - Updated - - - I've only used examples where clubs would probably be expected to progress, based on their ranking. In the earlier days there was first a straight knock-out, then only one team progressed with best 2nd places, so...

He seemed like a dumb cunt with his 'bring on Italy' comments, hopefully they put 5 goals past him next summer. Seems someone is sore about his time in Serie A.

We didn't score a goal, which is the most surprising thing. Well, maybe not so much considering our side of the pitch second half, but even then we normally scrape one in.

His players failed him just as much, missed chances and individual mistakes. Take it on the chin, sometimes it just goes wrong, this flies-on-shit vulture approach doesn't make anyone look good.

Post-match cockfighting aside, Galatasaray are a very ordinary team who we should have comfortably taken 4 points off, but the CL throws up group stage shocks like this. It's football, how often do people need to watch the game to understand this sometimes happens, and will again in future...

We did better last season with the same formation and a weaker roster, I think one or two should have a think about that before the expected call for a turnover of players or formation.

Having only needed to draw fucked us in the end, but not in the typical way we might expect. It's better to sit and keep possession if you are playing for a draw, but you can't keep possession on that pitch. GS played percentage stuff suited to the pitch, but that worked better for them as they...

Seriously annoyed. Obviously over the six games you can say we weren't good enough, but that last game was so farcical and such a leveller. So often teams go out of this competition with extenuating circumstances, just wanted to see a normal game of football and the best team winning...

Being 'manly' about it is one thing, but I know from experience that getting more hail-like snow in your eyes just affect your vision if only for a split second. That's enough to make one mistake to decide a game, let alone it happening all across the pitch.

I know that, it's to prevent the soil freezing, which will in turn freeze the grass and kill it from the inside out. All very scientific I'm sure. There are systems available which can melt snow, but I doubt they would be suitable or used for 99% of cases in Istanbul, as they create flooding.

Or else they clear the pitch overnight, it freezes, and then they have to turn their undersoil heating on to thaw the pitch. With a frozen pitch and chance of more snow the game definitely would be postponed again.
