I had hoped you were capable of a deeper intellectual understanding of how economy works and therefore why International football has developed in the way it has.

That fact that Italian clubs are at their lowest in 30 years isn't just a simple matter of cycles or "money shifts" as some would say - come one how ignorant can you be? There's a profound lack of professionalism and business sense combined with a reactionary attitude towards the evolution of "football" in Italian football.

In football, cycles tends to be in 3-5 year intervals, not a decade or more.

that's my point! we can't blame our Serie A for this. But, that mindset in Italy must change and product their own players. Except this, i can't see other league having better teams than the past years, i'm not talking about Barca, Real and all that 3,4 other marketing teams.

At one side, Serie a was run exceptionally bad for the past 25 years.

At the other side, there is an exceptionally poor generation of italian youth. People shouldnt act like its "all the clubs avoiding the youth" because they did that and worse in the 90ties and we had players like Nesta, Cannavaro, Totti, Del Piero, etc comming trough. Talent allways breaks trough. Truth is we have very little talent in this new generation, if any. And the little talent we got, lacks a spine and balls to make it trough.

But suggesting this point of time isn't in a cycle essentially suggests that there is not going to be a point of return for Italian football.

And if there is a point when Italian Football (IF) get's back, then that point we are referring today in today's discussion is on a cycle because it came back to the point it once was.

Straight lines (A to B) can't be defined as circular and you are defining our current trajectory as such. Italian Football will get back to it's glory days, just not in the "usual" cycle you described earlier.

Mathematics doesn't define a cycle or circle with one set size. And as Maddy suggests, there are too many issues at hand here, and unfortunately italy has a lot so of course its going to take longer than what we might be used to, for those of us who have watched Italian football for such a long time.
