Yes it's absolutely capitalism/consumerism that has been literally woven into American culture. But it's also the separating factor between countries with high GDP, innovation and prosperity vs nations that are rooted in socialist traits. See the Europe. Excluding possibly Germany.

Also, how does one subscribe to this prison break program ser?
Absolutely, and good for those societies, but i feel we have gone a bit too far down that rabbit hole.

The program is just a business idea i am toying with. It's basically financial planning for an early semi retirement abroad. We analyze the current situation, offer a few options and work on getting the client there. Of course we also take care of all the hassles of moving abroad be it the legal/admin aspect home or away, so the move is as painless as possible.

I was leading a product prioritization meeting with a bunch of VP's and everything was going fine until one person didn't like how I described the situation. Then they harped on the comment for several minutes even though it was clear we were still moving forward with the idea. Usually I can choose my words wisely, but it just came out wrong at the time.

Unfortunately, I'm always my biggest critic, so I wasn't happy with myself. And I'm like you in that I let work things bother me too much. But IT is very much a thankless job at times and too many folks from the "business" look for "gotcha" moments when we're just here trying to solve problems. I'm sure it's the same everywhere though.
If it makes you feel any better, it's definitely universal in management. Had to sit in a meeting while my VP came down on my AVP for like 5 solid minutes because he used the word "pretty" as an adjective to describe a situation. Take solace in the fact that the VP eventually got let go for being an incompetent dumbass.

That's some pretty silly stuff right there.

It's really simple, the general idea is to plan for your "escape" from America, the tunnel digging is the part where you tighten the belt to save for a property abroad and some money on the side to never stress for cash or worry about job loss. Then you just kick it, live off 2k-3k a month doing something stupid remote with 0 stress and also that you can leave at the drop of a dime. America is a scam.
Shocked to hear you say this

The problem is not the job itself, the problem is the value you assign to the job, and that value is 100% based on your spending habits. Consumerist America is a scam that keeps one chained, yall need to get on my "prison break" program.
True value is feeling like you could lose all of your assets tomorrow and be just fine.

Dude, I am living proof of the Deneb's American Consumerism Escape Hatch Plan(tm).

I am living the lifestyle!!!

How can I help your marketing videos? I wanna be one of the extras for you that shows up with you surrounded by hot chicks in bikinis on a boat, like in those old Tom Vu videos:

Yeah, dat's me with the asymmetric 'fro, yo.

I am from the Philippines. I'll hook you all up
Pinoys got it going on. The day your scientists invent breasts for your women, you're going to dominate the planet.

Some peacocks gotta show feathers to make it about them and try to make themselves feel smart among their peers. The good news is most in that room were probably rolling their eyes at the dude, hoping he would just STFU already and put it back in his pants.

That's the stoic approach, but that's not for everyone. The point of my idea is arbitrage, you can get a much better product and much cheaper itd be stupid not to go for it.

But on the point of semi-ascetic acceptance of all states no matter what and deriving "pleasure" and happiness from the inside is a whole different conversation.
