hippies man hippies, distorted sense of reality.
I do love people who believe they can rationalize with a mentally damaged person, just to see their incredulous reactions and pop their mental bubbles on how they think the idealized world works. :D

What would the counseling do?

Teach her to curb her urges to not beat the hell out of kids?

Or teach her that beating kids is wrong and illegal (if she hasn't already figured that out by now)
'so insane bitch what have we learned today'

insane bitch to quack: 'o learnes that whenever i feel like punching mt baby i should breathe deeply and comfort the child so it stops crying'

seems legit

we are all mentally damaged, we were born this way. and the fact that this person was not caught doing this in public but rather at her home only reaffirms that.

I don't think she was mentally challenged. Just ignorant. Definitely deserves a very long jail term. And obviously kept away from kids for the rest of her life. Doing that to a 7 year old could be called rough parenting. Doing it to an infant is fucked up.

Right, let's try to help her so she doesn't beat the ish out of kids

I'm not calling for anything bad to happen to her but you act like she can be counseled/guided and reformed and that people's reactions are unwarranted. If she was a caretaker or nanny to your child and you found out that was happening, what would you do? Remain absolutely calm and try to help her and get her treatment for whatever mental condition she suffers from?

On top of that you refuse to watch what the vid. Maybe you should go break her out from jail and bring her to the Betty Ford clinic for rehab from beating the ish out of infants. I'm sure they have a counsel program for that. Don't take this the wrong way but your opinion isn't wrong, I'm just disagreeing with your train of thought on this one champ.
I'm sure of those replies are from people with children and they probably see it differently. Still, I did find people saying kill her for that a bit strong. Honestly, she probably does deserve a beating and someone asking her how she likes it. She should be locked up for a lot longer than 18 months though, she also should not be allowed near children ever again and she needs counselling.

Emotions have to be kept seperate from legal proceedings, its why people emotionally involved in the case can't judge or be on the jury. Putting this woman in jail if she has a mental condition won't do anything to help, putting her in prison if she has a violent temperament wont do anything - keeping her away from the kid and giving her medical & emotional support will. Calling for her to be 'raped' & 'hung'...thats really productive.

well after all we are all 'plebs' and hes got the answers
Pleb (from the latin Plebeian, as in the Plebeian Tribune etc.), refers to the uneducated masses. I've never called anyone on here a Pleb and never will.

Speaking of that video a couple pages ago:

Video of baby being abused goes viral a year later Tashny Sukumaran, Asia News Network (The Star), Petaling Jaya, Malaysia | Wed, 05/09/2012 7:27 PMA-AA+A video of a woman abusing a toddler went viral on social networking sites Wednesday evening, with Malaysians calling for the woman’s arrest.
According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), they received nearly 300 complaints about the case from concerned individuals.
However, PDRM quickly confirmed that the video was an old one and that the perpetrator was currently serving a prison sentence.
“The case was reported in IPD Petaling Jaya on May 29 last year and arrests were made on the same day.
“The perpetrator is the biological mother of the abused baby girl,” read a statement they posted on their Facebook page.
The woman is currently serving a prison sentence of 18 months commencing from the date of arrest, under Section 31 (1) Children Act 2001 which covers ill-treatment, neglect, and exposure of children to harm.
The baby is now in the custody of the Social Welfare Department, and the person who recorded the video is a police witness in this case.
The video, which runs for over four minutes, depicts a woman sitting on a bed hitting a baby with a pillow and her hands, and kicking the child.
The video began circulating on Wednesday, with outraged Twitter and Facebook users calling for the woman to be identified and arrested.
