Are you against slow-motion on tv as well?
People can do whatever they want watching it on TV: watch the game in slow motion, scratch their private parts, belch, eat a bowl of nachos, whatever. Just don't pretend you know more about what's going on in the match than the people in the stadium and on the pitch.

And worse still: don't tell the people at the stadium and on the pitch that your perspective is the correct one -- and that the game should be driven by your scratches, belches, nachos, and slow motion camera replays that give you the belief that you have God-like knowledge of the truth.

Argentina, Brazil and Spain, 3 of the pre-tournament favourites, have hardly impressed in their first matches.

    Exciting World Cup so far.
Agreed, and that only makes it more interesting because in round 2 & 3 of GS the pressure will be harder.

They can either excel, disappoint or fail miserably. The first one is good for football fans, the second one is good for debate and the third one is good for trolling da interwebz.

    Win-win in my book.

Never take first matches too seriously. Of course it gives you an idea of what some teams can do but usually they want to impress and are afraid to fuck up at the same time.

A WC really begins in the round of 16 when everybody's already settled in.

Messi was super awful today yet he finally scored his 1st goal at the world cups
He was lagging and walking around aimlessly for much of the match and didn't get motivated until the final 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, local ESPN coverage had to review his goal in detail... mostly to justify why they've been hyping him up to the newcomers to viewing the sport here in the U.S.

It's not good when you have to work for it.

Goal line technology, spray. I wonder what's the next thing they going to come up with to ruin the beautiful game.
It's better this way. A lot of players used to get advantage and not stay where they should on free-kicks. Look what Pirlo did with the correct distance.
The goal is what rules this game, and if you get one legit goal and it doesn't counts because the referee didn't saw it, well, it's simply not fair.

There should be off-side technology as well.

Were you watching it at ESPN Deportes or ESPN 1/2? Did you notice Deportes is streaming ESPN Brasil? I watched a couple of matches in Portuguese until i couldn't stand the amount of rubbish the commentator would say. :D
