unfortunately i have to say this does not surprise me and just hammers home the level of ignorance. take comfort in the fact that due to the extensive grass-roots support of the sport in young kids, eventually america is gonna start exporting players at an alarming rate. when they gain experience in europes top leagues team USA will be a team to look out for.
I truly hope so because the only way our players will reach full potential is if they play in the top leages of this world. The difference in skill level and touches between us and the Czechs monday was absolutely appalling.

is it true that burke cried when he heard borrusia monchengladback wasnt a porno??
No, he did not cry. He just put in an old Bayern tape and masturbated to Oliver Kahn.

i know what you mean scotland used to import players to the top clubs in england, the gradual decline in the standard of the scottish national team has as much to do with englands top clubs buying the best in the world as it is our neglect of grass roots football. unfortunately for us our goverment does not see the problem and though most clubs are now getting proper academies set up i fear that we will not see the benefits for many years

De Rossi played awfull against Ghana. I would like Gattusso or Camo, who is a little bit more offensive and one of those who runs all the pitch.
De Rossi wasn't bad. He was fortunate to not concede a penalty but his overall play was good enough. Off the top of my head I can remember two splitting through balls that he played, one to Perrotta, the other to Gilardino. I would only consider leaving him out because he's one yellow away from suspension.

I agree,De Rossi wasn't bad at all...ha had some great passes toward the attackers, and one pass for Perrotta's clear chance.
He was also good in defending tasks.
Lippi really chose a good team against Ghana.

..

I would like to see Camo instead of Perrotta, eventhough he played alright againt Ghana. Perrotta's footballing abilities is simply limited.

Do you really not know who she is? Then funny thing is she probably has more Women's WCs under her belt than Italy. But alas it still doesn't make here a rocket scientist.

Perrotta played really well vs Ghana so I'd give him another shot. De Rossi didn't impress me so I would see Camoranesi at his place and get Rino in the 2nd half "if" we have the lead.
Zaccardo was ok but I still prefer Oddo. He makes more runs and is a better crosser.
Zambrotta is ready but if I was him I'd take it easy for the 1st half.
Gilardino gave some space to Toni but I'd give a chance to Pippo or Iaquinta.

PIRLO: "WE WILL
WIN AGAINST
THE USA
TO THANK OUR FANS"
Duisburg 14/06/2006

"My teacher was Gino Bolsieri: he would always put me on the field with the bigger players so that I would learn to kick from far off". With this personal memory, Pirlo talked to the press at the Meiderich training center about his early experience as a football player. Even when he was only 6 years old, his first coach had see his future as a great football player. The free kicks and long shots became his strong point.
When asked if the players get along well, Andrea replied: "Of course and my goal is proof. Gilardino immediately understood and bent down; even because otherwise he would have gone straight to the hospital". Now Pirlo is here to play a World Cup and against Ghana he scored the goal that broke the ice. He needed to recharge, but his performance on Monday allowed him to be elected "Player of the Match". Proud, but modest, he said "I don't know what to say, the others decided" to the journalists pointing out the importance of the award granted to him. He adapts to the roles given him with extreme versatility and acknowledges that the module with three midfielders is the one currently used the most. He observes that "the team is not backed up and the coach has various solutions at his disposal".
During the press conference, Pirlo also talked about his teammate on Milan, Kakà and commented on an opinion expressed by Costacurta ("kaka has improved a great deal since he has been with the Milan team"). In fact, "after the first workouts in Milanello, the Brazilian improved his performance, and grew a lot"; and now Pirlo explained: "It is the same thing for me to play with either Kakà or Totti in front of me, even if they are different types of player".
The Italian midfielder is used to being marked tightly, but for this reason he says "you have to move around more, a pace that is set by this type of ball that is very fast".
The teams that he likes the most out of the ones he has seen are Italy and Argentina. "The other national teams - continued the "Player of the Italy-Ghana" match - have had some problems, the first match is always the most difficult and it is important to win".
With respect to two years ago, Buffon talked about more unity within the group and Pirlo acknowledges that the team is tight-knit: "We feel very good with the new head coach and we want to work, the group is compact". He also set a small record, he is the first player from Brescia to score in a World Cup and explains: "we all work for the team, for the passion that the fans have shown for us, especially in this very delicate moment". When asked about the upcoming opponents, he replied: "Against the USA we will watch some cassettes, I know very few players, we have to get the three points because they will do all they can to win to have a chance to qualify and we have to be careful. This is the first World Cup for me: I have realized my dream but I will continue to give my best for this team".

GATTUSO IMPROVES
AND IS BACK IN THE GROUP
ZAMBROTTA OK
READY FOR LIPPI
Duisburg 14/06/2006
The second day of training in Duisburg after the win in the debut match of the World Cup, gave the Azzurri some more good news. After recovering Zambrotta, Gennaro Gattuso is also on the way to recovery and participated in the test match held in the morning. Enrico Castellacci, physician of the National team, talked about the condition of the midfielder, underlining his progress: "Gattuso had some further exams, and his situation will continue to be monitored. He will work 50% with the rest of the group and the other 50% will be personalized, but we are optimistic".

Castellacci, who did not talk about the exact date of the recovery with regards to the midfielder, talked about Zambrotta and Totti and the heat that accompanied the Azzurri in the first week in Germany: "Zambrotta is practically ready and Totti has absorbed the blow to his ankle in the match against Ghana. As far as the heat is concerned, I have to say that we were not surprised. We were expecting it and none of the players are suffering from the high temperatures. Those losing liquids just have to reintegrate with mineral salts".

The test match that ended the morning workout on the field in Maiderich ended up 3-2 for the "whites" against the "oranges". Totti, DeRossi and Inzaghi scored for one team, while Del Piero scored twice for the other.

Yes good line up...Nesta and Cana did an amazing job against Ghana and that is very reasuring and I'm sure they can close it off for the Americans...Altough Zambrotta would be better on the right he can be just as good on the left especially that Grosso's performance was horrible, and Oddo did very well in the friendlies b4 the WC and can do a better job than Zacardo...Perrotta is definetly starting line up material. the only thing I would do is put Inzaghi upfront with Toni since we lacked the final one touch finish against Ghana and Pippo is the man for that.

FORZA AZZURRI.

no leave zambrotta on the left....the u.s.a and more dangerous down the right and espically now because they might run with 3 strikers at some point in the game. donovan is dangerous down the right and dempsey is always a threat.
