Team USA has been overhyped, you can't deny that. lol, I heard they even claimed that Kasey Keller was one of the top 3 goalkeepers in the world. I, myself, heard that he was among the top 10, closer to 5 then 10. :howler:

edit: Kasey Keller I mean

Well, even Swedes on this board say Ibrahimovic is the greatest talent on earth. Some fans of any country will overrate their own players...that's just how it is.

Keller is a very underrated keeper actually. I don't think he's top ten, however he certainly is in the top 25. I'm sure not many here have watched all the qualifiers and friendlies, and when this guy is in our net he is always solid and makes stunning saves. People have a tendency to underrate him just because he's American, just like some Americans overhype him as well.

I would play:

Buffon
Oddo - Nesta - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
Perrotta - Pirlo - De Rossi
Totti
Toni - Iaquinta

Zaccardo did well against Ghana but Oddo is a better player. Zambrotta for Grosso is an obvious choice. I wouldn't change anything in midfield but Gilardino didn't impress me in the opener and Iaquinta's pace could be useful with Totti's through balls.
De Rossi played awfull against Ghana. I would like Gattusso or Camo, who is a little bit more offensive and one of those who runs all the pitch.

Of course, but in a country like Sweden, where people actually know football, can't be fooled by the media or what ever it is hyping these players, but here, people buy all that crap and the arrogance is very very annoying.

Of course, however it's the same story in every country. The difference is more people in these other nations know more about the sport in general...here most people are too busy with baseball or stuffing a hot dog in their fat face before a Nascar race.

andy i feel for you here mate, the american team did incredibly well 4 years ago and punched above their weight, thus raising expectation. this time it looks like a first round exit unfortunately and the fear must be for the minority of americans like yourself and Easy, who know and understand football, that this setback will see americans in general going back to ignoring this"quaint little game" that bewitches the rest of the world

I'm not sure if this will cause us to lose a lot of fans, but it will hardly generate some new ones. Losing in such a horrid fashion is just the beginning of it...now we have to deal with our late night commedians making jokes about our national team and every soccer hater coming out of the sewer to write their usual rubbish about how this sport supposedly supports terrorism and is only a game for socialists. Being destroyed in the opening match is misery enough, and now we must deal with this nonsense. Monday was easily one of the worst days I can remember in a long time.

I don't have a clue why they employed her anyway...perhaps they're trying to garner a few female viewers because they surely aren't catering to the males.

She knows less about the European game than Burke.

unfortunately i have to say this does not surprise me and just hammers home the level of ignorance. take comfort in the fact that due to the extensive grass-roots support of the sport in young kids, eventually america is gonna start exporting players at an alarming rate. when they gain experience in europes top leagues team USA will be a team to look out for.

I'm still wondering who Zambrotta's full back partner will be. Lippi has many variations available but I think he'll choose Zaccardo coz he'll want Zambro to do all the marauding and him staying back as he wanted Grosso to do against Ghana.

I know some might not agree with this but I honestly think DDR should be a starter ahead of Gattuso any day. He's much more constructive going forward and definatley contributes well to defence though he may put in the rash challenge or two. But Gattuso also does the rash challenge or two but I cant see him ever delivering passes like the ones DDR cooked 4 Gila and Perrota's chances. If Gat is fit for USA, he should however play coz de Rossi has a yellow and I feel we need him more for the Czechs

for this game I would play:

Buffon
Oddo-Nesta-Cannavaro-Zambrotta

Camo-Gattuso-Pirlo

Totti

Dp-Toni

I liked Perotta's performance against Ghana but I don't think he is needed to start against USA.
