well if lippi didnt say, then there is no reason to ask this question why he would start. because he wont.

Not a good Idea.
why not? i think he has the most part of the starting XI already on his mind, with players like toni and canna starting but as i read, nesta is racing to be fit for the match, so he doesnt know yet if he will go with nesta or materazzi, well its worth to wait. we are talking about the matrix here after all :scared: :scared:

and same with totti, will he start, or not, we dont know how the players have played in the training.

dude you know how many people have said who they think should start and who they think should sit, so talk to them because i dont want your 2 cents. lippi doesn't say alot of things and people still guess who should be on the team or the field. the forum is for discussing is it not?

what seems to be the problem here? this is a public forum, i say what i want, as long as i dont brake the rules, if you dont like my comments, then just ignore them, you can even add me to ignore list when you go to my profile, so you would not see my posts. ;)

I'm not sure If he has his starting11 already in his mind. We're pretty sure that De Rossi will start....The only thing we don't know is who's gonna start, Del Piero/Totti/Both/no one??? Thats the biggest question. If Lippi can tell the fans, then we'll be able to picture the starting 11.

i agree but u also said their is no reason to discuss what lippi hasn't or has said. (i.e. starting totti)

azzurri7 just proved my point when he asked all those questions. There is a reason to discuss this because thats what a forum is for, discussing things like starting or sitting totti

Totti: I'm unfit, but ready to play
9 June 2006
by Reuters

Italy forward Francesco Totti said on Friday that he was not yet fully fit but was still ready to start against Ghana in the Azzurri's opening FIFA World Cup™ Group E game.
"I am at around 60-70 per cent of my condition," Totti said after playing the second half of a training match on Friday.

"Like everyone, I'm here to play and I feel ready to play. But it is down to the coach to make his decision and if he chooses not to play me I will accept that."

The Roma playmaker, viewed as key to Italy's hopes at the finals, has only recently returned from a three months' absence following a broken ankle.

"I am happy to have got those 45 minutes in because the only way to get back to full form is through playing," said Totti, who has only once managed to play a full 90 minutes since his injury in February.

Coach Marcello Lippi was upbeat about Totti's performance in the 5-1 win over MSV Duisburg's youth team, played in front of an enthusiastic crowd of around 20,000, many of them local-based Italians.

"Totti is getting his confidence back step by step. Every day I evaluate the players and I saw a more lively performance from him than before," said the Italy coach.

The Duisburg youngsters were careful not to be too aggressive but Totti said he was not worried about receiving crunching tackles against Ghana.

"Sooner or later I'm going to get fouled but I'm ready, I'm ready for the battle," he said.

Lippi, who will be without injured pair Gianluca Zambrotta and Gennaro Gattuso in Hanover on Monday, also sounded a positive note about the fitness of central defender Alessandro Nesta.

Nesta did not take part in Friday's session but Lippi said: "Hopefully we will only have two absentees and not three. There is an improvement in Nesta's condition, a consistent improvement".

However, the Italy coach refused to be drawn on his selection plans for the Ghana game.

"We have two more days of training and then we will make the decision. It was a good session for us today and it feels good to be getting closer to Monday," he said, adding that his message to Italy fans was: "Be calm, Italy is ready".

i dont know why lippi would start totti for this game when he says he isn't 100%. this is an important game to italy and should we start a 60% totti?
do u have another italian player at his maximum and 100% and who plays in totti's player who has the capacities to do better than a 60% totti?????

yes. i would take del piero, toni, gilla, cammo, pirlo(in form), gattuso(injured), de rossi, even inzaghi and maybe barone and perrota but its close.
plus if totti gets a hard challenge from someone else, which is most likely, he won't play for long.

no you didnt or i didnt understand u i thought u asked is their any italian player better then totti at 60%.

noone plays totti's position on the field but if totti isnt 100% you can change your formation a little bit. totti's position it is almost like a CF just a little more back. so i would play del piero in front of a 60% totti.

So we got 2 key players ready to play but maybe unfit.

Nesta and Totti... not good. Many injuries. Del Piero to play instead of Totti I hope.

personally,i prefer the 4-4-2 with the 60% totti to the 4-3-3 he used against ukraine playing with del piero and gila in the wings .
this 4-3-3 didnt bring anything

it didn't bring anything because totti and pirlo didnt play good in the middle. I take a 4-3-3 with del piero gilla and toni and play then they way they played germany. Del piero was put way on the left side as an experiment im sure he will play closer to the middle if he plays.

pirlo played a good match and totti wasnt playing the first 60 minutes.
in these first 60 minutes with del piero -toni-gila didnt do anything at all
