the article does no justice to those of us who do our jobs very well...why not start posting some articles about the officers who save lives, or catch the thief who robbed your house....or muderer your loved one....or isnt that exciting enough for you ?

talk about power trips, why not post some articles about politicians, and their abuse of power
I see a lot more of articles about engineers who fucked up in the design of a bridge than those who succeeded in building a good one.

I also see a lot of articles about doctors who fucked up in an operation than those who succeeded in one.

I also see a lot of articles about Microsoft getting bugs in their new released operating system than other released operating systems with less problems.

Do you know why? Because success is expected naturally. A policeman doing a good job is a duty, isn't this what you call it? But when they fuck up it is total abuse of power.

Obama is my town again tomorrow. It's gonna krazy. Hillary keeps calling my house, why won't she just give it up? I'm like "no lady calling me for times in one day is not going to get me your vote".

On another note:

VINNIE CAN USE CAPS AS MUCH AS HE WANTS. I DON'T CARE IF MODS HAVE "KICK THE DOG SYNDROME". POSTING IN CAPS IS NOT OFFENSIVE.

Truth is that in any job you only hear about the guys who mess up because success stories don't get ratings.

Oh, some of us have learned. I'm one of those individuals. I'd appreciate it if people overseas would stop equating us as the same entity, as while many of us are retarded imbeciles, not every single one of us has that deficiency. I'm just throwing that out there as "you people" have a tendency to roll us up in the same blunt of nonsense.

Sorry if I gave you the impression that I meant EVERYONE (after all, I learnt stuff like this from a yank like Noam Chomsky and such). I just mean the general masses and attitude to it is this way, due to the massive propoganda since day one when the soviets became your enemies. 60 years later, and even the most democratic form of socialism (as it is in most of europe) is viewed as diabolical in your media. Its used as insults against politicians, they have this or that opinion that is dangerously close to socialistic idea and they get bullied or written off due to it..

Really quite sad when you really ponder on it.

It's very sad, and unfortunately I even have to put up with the "don't talk bad about our country" propaganda from some members in my own family. They don't even want to hear my valid arguments, someone that is in their own family. I can't believe some of this crap.

How can they be American history books...what about the American propaganda you speak of ??

name the American history book where you got that information from....I highly doubt it came from the USA
Oh dear. Vin, not every American is blind to the facts. That you think of an opinion other than your as not possibly being American only shows how ridiculous the political debate in the US is right now. There's not the slightest bit of nuance in what you say.

American politicians have solved just about every social and economic problem by saying that one shouldn't talk bad about America. Patriotism and blindness are often mixed up, and personally I don't have a clue why.

That's true. Patrotism is indeed blindness. Some people would defend their country even if their country was obviously the one at fault. This kind of behaviour is admired for some reason in some parts of the world. I think it's disgusting.

Friggin' politicians. Can I get on a "do not call list" for elective politics? I swear, everytime an election is coming my answering machine gets filled with crap from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nancy Pelosi, or some Hollywood has-been like Mary Tyler Moore or something.

It does paint a different image of a cop popping caps....

But hey, if there's a long-standing rule for it and a system of warnings for it, no one has any place to bitch about being called on it. As with law enforcement, pointing to other people in the neighborhood who didn't get a traffic ticket isn't a defense.

Politicians can be worse than telemarketing calls.

It's really a dumb rule that is hardly enforced, considering CAPS can be used to emphasize points. Typing in CAPS isn't the same as calling someone a mother fucker or a sonofabitch. That's just my opinion, but you guys do you.

HMM, IRONIC?
Oh yeah, there's some serious problems with the leadership around here lately, no doubt about that. It's like some of the people have been put in roles and don't know what the hell they're doing. I was thinking of making a little noise to get them back on track but I don't know if they would listen, but more importantly I just don't care enough about it. Some of them have a grip on things, some don't. I'm not going to single anyone out cause I like them and I don't think public criticism will improve anything.

What you have here, though, is a very good point. When people make such a stink about being treated unfairly on nothing more than an internet forum, it certainly makes the stories I've quoted about grave power abuses all the more relevant.

But you have another point that is very crucial. When people do something stupid around here and get banned (Andy comes to mind), I would always advise them to stay well within the limits and then you can have a little wiggle room if you feel like it. Meanwhile, if you're always pushing it then one tiny little transgression can be enough to get you behind bars. This happens all the time.

At the same time, I'm the first to argue that people should get a second, and third and fourth etc chance, especially when what they've supposedly done this time is a trifle. And that's exactly the same leniency and humanity I'm arguing for when we're talking about cops.
