Dat PSG statement on super league.
“We believe that any proposal without the support of UEFA -- an organisation that has been working to progress the interests of European football for nearly 70 years -- does not resolve the issues currently facing the football community, but is instead driven by self-interest.

"Paris Saint-Germain will continue to work with UEFA, the European Club Association and all stakeholders of the football family - based on the principles of good faith, dignity and respect for all."

talking about good faith, dignity, and respect for all, and claiming that UEFA has been working for progress for all. What a bunch of clowns.
And then...

99% of fans will be watching super league if this goes ahead. Don’t kid yourself. But you go right ahead and be the 1% that boycotts over the moral outrage of it all. I’m sure it shall make you sleep better at night. :)
I respect people for taking their stand. Nothing wrong with it.

But I think too much of a big deal is being made over a fucking sport. Every sport is business and money driven now and there's sadly no going back. If you don't like it, just don't follow it and just move on and find something interesting to do.

For example I lost interest in WWE when they diluted the product to cater to a much wider demographic. No big deal.

Because it's a vacuous statement that has nothing to do with this, if the fans don't like this they won't watch and they won't spend money on it. This actually is trying to deliver to the fans the best product possible. No one is stopping any fan from following this or that team.

You do realize there are fans who have supported clubs like Man U for generations in their family? You make it sound like it just changing a brand of underwear. Players are fans of the game too and have been in this for their whole lives, so if some of them are against something this drastic, they have legimate claim to voice it. Without being mocked for it, for the statement of "football is nothing without fans". I mean really? Thats what triggers a football "fan"?

But you are right, if they dont like it, they will stop following. And thats defenitely not gonna be a good thing for this overly greedy venture.

I agree, but I’m just a bit cynical in believing that those calling everyone who supports this morons or idiots, and calling it a disgrace, are actually going to quit the sport. I have a feeling that if this actually goes through vast majority of them will be back watching and acting like they were never opposed as soon as it takes off.

Also some insight into the FA meeting

Here's what Purslow, who has held similar roles at Liverpool and Chelsea, said:

"The board made it quite clear they are contemplating the most severe of sanctions against these six clubs because they have behaved in a way that self evidently damages the league as a whole and their 14 fellow shareholders - all I can see is that there was quite unanimous sadness, anger and disgust at the events of the last few days against every single one of these clubs."

He added that the clubs could "in theory" be expelled, but "no one wants to perform an act of self harm".

"What we need to find is a way to enable these two tournaments to thrive and they won’t be better off without those clubs," said Purslow

is it about greed or long term survival though?

my bet is on the latter.

Its a combination of both, but HEAVILY leaning on the greed department IMO. They been surviving for 100 years as sport clubs, to think this is solely survival is a bit disingenous iMO.

And you think up to this point man u catered to those fans? You think they became a mutli billion dollar company thanks to them? What "triggers" a reaction is that marcus rashford is a poser, he's a mini kaepernick wannabe, he will talk the talk but won't actually make any real sacrifice to walk the walk. Let him donate all his 'dirty' money and go play for millwall, otherwise it's just posing and he deserves all the flak that gets him.

It may come as a shock to you, but European football fans dont want to copy american sports...
No one is saying they have to. But taking some retarded moral high ground about what is or isn’t a sport based on the existence of promotion/relegation is pathetic and sad. Especially coming from Pep.

European football is nowhere near as close to as competitive as major North American sports and a major part of that is coaches like Pep who go from club to club with Carte Blanche to spend whatever the fuck they want. Where was his moral stand about going to coach ManCity and spending hundreds of millions more than any club not named PSg on player transfers?

American sport structure is really weird. Things like picking up a team and moving it to an entirely new city. It's certainly made for TV though, probably why it's that lucrative.

But they all dream of a rich billionaire to bankroll their football club. I remember how some Newcastle fans were disappointed when the Saudi's backed out. No one here is taking a moral or ethical stand. There is hypocrisy everywhere.
