1. I didn't like that scene where he was working on the table. She asked him to come in and he didn't. No big deal but he was Jesus, he was supposed to be perfect and that includes small things like not having to be asked twice. Just my idea of Jesus.
3. Not in a religious context though, it's just that it benefits you to know something about what you're seeing. I do remember a lot of the Bible still, even though it's been years. But I would have liked to brush up on the little things that made me wonder while watching it.
On the whole, though I did enjoy the movie, some things did irk me. First of all, it wasn't pure enough. That opening scene where Peter cut off the soldier's ear, what was that about? I thought they were supposed to be disciples, friendly people. They were afraid okay, but to go at a man with a knife? That's absurd IMO. Also the snake you mentioned. And what was with that bird poking the eyes out of that crook at the end? :wth:
Secondly, the dumbass sound effects. That really ruined it for me, they couldn't do without the Matrix-like amplified bass and shit like that. This is a movie about Jesus, effects from Die Hard have no place here. That opening scene where they fought had the classic movie sound effects, the drop that fell from heaven same thing, when he drew a line in the sand, same dumbass sound effects.
Drawing the line from that, the movie was really focused on the brutality and suffering. I would have liked a more religious composition, show the last supper in full, show more of resurrection etc. The whipping scenes made a strong point and I don't mind them because in this story of all stories suffering is paramount. If if wasn't because we're used to seeing people being tortured in every 2nd movie, this could have been done a lot less graphic. But too much focus on the suffering, bring out the religious message more. Show more of Palm Sunday, more of him teaching, healing etc. After all Chrstianity isn't all about suffering.
Ps. Where was Peter? I was surprised to never see him again... :undecide:
