Yeah there is. That's actually Mel's "artistic addition" to the movie, and it was effective in some ways, though her presence was questionable in some scenes of the movie. Without the Satan character, it would've been more true to the Gospels, but maybe MG was going for some controversy, something to talk about after watching the movie rather than just telling a story. I dunno :undecide:

my conclusion is: it's a good film, but the book was better :D

    :)
It would have been better in english tho
Not really. While I was watching, I constantly analysed how effective the scene would have been, had the movie been in English... it would've taken away a lot of the authenticity (which is being debated anyhow, but u can't please everyone)

I just saw the film and I'm just in awe...

By the end of the movie, most of the people in the theatre were either crying or sitting in awe. Nobody left the cinema until about 2 minues into the credits. Needless to say, it's not light-hearted viewing by any means.
Same here, everyone at the movie theater just stayed seated in complete silence..

The movie being spoken in Aramaic and Latin added to the authenticity, as I was pondering how realistic some of the scenes would have been, had they been spoken in English, and it just wouldn't have felt real.
    I completely agree.
Like people have already said, the violence in this movie is very strong. So I don't think it would be appropiate for the light-hearted. But to all of those that can take harsh violence by all means watch it.

you're making her see it? :D Well have fun.;)
I've also recommended that movie to everyone I know. At school I've been asking some friends, "Have you seen The Passion yet?" lol So far everyone I've asked have either seen it, or are still waiting to go see it.

Never before has God presented an evangelism opportnity so simple. It's kind of hard sometimes in a conversation to say "So what do you think will happen when you die?". How difficult can it be to say "Hey you wanna go watch a movie some time?". I don't recall a moment in time when Christ has been the centre of conversation in the mass media. Despite all the issues of anti-Semitism and excessive violence that people have against the movie, nobody can deny that the release of this film will turn out to be an important moment in Christian history

If the movie's about the last 12 hours of Jesus's life, this one review said the director ought to put the Muslim aspect of Jesus's crucifixation
what review? and why should they put our view when the main audience targeted aren't muslim?

What do you mean Sally?
