Even in our best days we had poor attendance, except in rare cases like crucial CL games, and some derbies in Italy. I even remember there was a poll on Juventus website where would fans like to move stadium, I'm not sure if it was official web site though...

60k with cheaper tickets would've been ideal. Cheap enough to make a nice difference, but obviously not too cheap so the extra 20k seats count for something. We'd surely start filling out a 60k seater with consistent deep CL runs, in the league. Not so much, probably closer to 50k.

They said that the costs would grow in a exponential way with those 10-20k seats. So instead of 100 50k would've been 200 and 60k 300m

It was hard for the board to see such a rise in performances in the team in the space of no time. Nobody was this kind of progress coming so 41k was definitely reasonable.

No point building a 60k stadium when we weren't even qualifying for CL or competing any where near the top.

The board did a good job and taking our average attendances into account they couldn't build a high capacity stadium with the way the team had been performing.

Because they don't care much. Our attendances have always been shit.
This. Also Torino isn't that big and there are ALOT of Torino fans. In italy they joke that we could probably fill the San Siro every week if we were to play in Milano, and there's actually some truth to that. For example we always have alot more fans there on our away trips than we get tickets alloted.

Imo the capacity is spot on.

this.

it would be stupid to have a 60.000 stadium just for the CL games.
it’s not worth it.
Indeed. Average attendance is meaningless in itself anyway. It's far more interesting to look at match day income.

Take for instance Arsenal and Dortmund. In the 2011/2012 season (the last one for which I could quickly find reliable numbers for both) Arsenal had an average league attendance of 60,000 while Dortmund averaged 80,000. Still, Dortmund only made €31 m in match day income while Arsenal made €132m. To make the point even clearer, a whopping 35 % of Arsenal's match day income came from just 9,000 premium seats so a bigger stadium wouldn't necessarily be better than a smaller but well run (and expensive) one.

Yes. The board back then:
"Cost/benefit? Never heard if it."

Yes the obvious 'solution' if you could call it that would be to bump up ticket prices, but it could easily backfire and go horribly wrong.

We could have definitely done with another 10k seats at least but if it's true that the stadium costs would've been double for those extra seats then it's obvious to see why we didn't go for it.

Having said that, i'm no architect or engineer but needing an extra 100M per 10k seats sounds like whoever designed the stadium done goofed at some stage. Those ridiculous metal beams in each corner kinda support that idea too.

The only Italian team in the CL that is equipped to make a long run in the CL is Juve. I don't see Roma/Lazio going all that far which means we have another big check coming at the end of next season if we do well again.

Losing Tevez/Pogba will hurt us emotionally but if Beppe is smart he will reinvest well in many areas. You know, those fullbacks we have all dreamed of? Or that shinny AM we know we need.

We have replaced Tevez long before he even left. We could even have Tevez's replacement's backup any day now. The blow of losing Pogba can be softened by investing intelligently.
