40k is what we needed back then. It was pretty damn low price when we build it and we are reaping rewards.

We should expand it to 55-60k in the future, but not too soon.

we are losing too much money in the big matches

Do the math in the matches with milan, inter, roma, napoli we can get full stadium no matter the size of the stadium, with teams like fiorentina, lazio we can surely get more then 40k spectators per game plus the CL games where the real money is. After continassa the stadium is the thing we need to focus on.

Don't know if people know about this but our stadium is expandable to 50-55k, in fact the license is for a 60k seater.

However that said we don't have any immediate plans to expand. Continassa comes first I suppose.
I suppose we could do like Dormund. Safe stading in North and South that way we could allow more people in during domestic league matches.
That way you wouldn't need to spend big to rebuild part of the stadium.
Sadly when they decided the capacity they analyzed that average occupancy was between 33 and 35k for each match and they wanted to cut down costs and have it always full. Even in the years that the team is not on top

The stadium capacity shows we basically underestimated our own rise back to the top. Shame. Great stadium but 41k isn't going to do us any favours in the long run.
they were also cheap with the costs the whole thing all together was 115m. o_O Roma just completed all the steps needed to start building and well their investment is 1,1b euro o_O
Yes they understimated our rise back but c'mon they were even cheap with the rest.

It does need to be said that the atmosphere in our smaller stadium is much better than that in the larger stadiums in Italy. Not to say we couldnt go bigger and not lose this but it is a huge home field advantage for us right now.

that's mainly because the other stadiums are half empty big matches aside. I really wish we can extend it in someway.
