There are very few strikers who are less compatible with Cristiano than Icardi. Mandzukic' form is totally unrelated.

But yes, Mandzu should be unsellable. He provides Cristiano with a platform to do what he does best, can switch to the wing on a few occassions in the game, he's a leader inside the squad and he can't be replaced with what we'd get from him. He's ageing and that's totally fine with our need to make space for Kean.


Mandzukic had 3-4 bad months after his injury. Saying he can't give steady performances is 1. overreacting and 2. not even what we need Mandzukic to do next season...

I would play a 4231 and sign a pure defender like Chiellini. Maybe Manolas. Get Bonucci on the bench or sell for reasonable offer. Enough with the CB playmaking. In with a guy that can take a beat and actually defend.
That way the centre backs and a holding mid will only defend while allowing for more attacks from the rest of the team.
A total-football approach like Pochettino, Klopp, Tuchel, ten Hag, Guardiola, Sarri, Favre likes to do it.
Ronaldo an Dybala (if he's still here?) can focus on attacking. Let the opponent counter with others to take the job. Risking a little more.

I just watched Spurs last night. The commentator noted that they haven't played a game without goals for 60 matches. 60! That's goals against and for. How often do we play goalless games? Every third match or so?

I would put matuidi as holding mid and watch this team play. To my mind matuidi is completely mismanaged,he should not be allowed to sprint forward. Defend, Retake the ball and pass ASAP, never be on it for more than 5 steps.
