Ok! I'll confess! I was taken to hospital on 17th April by ambulance. Over the weekend they took 'scrapings' to test and gave me 4 units of blood to make up for the amount I had lost. On 21st April, I was told that the results of the tests showed that I had cancer. I've been for CT and MRI scans and go for the pre-op assessment on Wednesday. They intend to operate in the next 10 days. They told me that they would have done so right away, but I had lost too much blood and I had to build up my 'reserves' before they can do so.

Ok, let's say that each of us has a terminal disease. Cancer, rickets, chicken pox, Romanista, whatever. You have 24 hours to live. What do you do?

Don't say something like, "Go to Turin and play with Juve."

The objective is to search your mind for the most extreme thing.


I think I would go to a local port like Annapolis or Baltimore and commandeer a boat and waste my last day away motoring down to the Caribbean.

I can't think of anything crazier right now.

Maybe take one of my father's M-16's and waste away a lot of politicians in Washington.

Seriously, the Dr's are hopeful of getting rid of my cancer by the operation and hopefully, without too much Chemo or radiotherapy, but it will be a long slow recovery.

I'll still be online until I go into hospital. The Doc has provisionally booked me in to have my op on 10th May. If so, I'll have to go in on the 9th May, which means I miss the last games of the season. If all goes well (no secondary infections), I'll be back home within a couple of weeks. I suspect that it's cancer of the endemetrium, but I'm just guessing that 'cos that's happened to a few family members in recent years. It's not so much the op worrying me, as the slow recovery and 'not being able to do things for weeks' that will drive me nuts!
