Something seriously needs to be done. Teams who both have incentive and responsibility of keeping up with players health are not doing so, and we really need ways to ensure player's saftey.
I think this health problem will be more acute with mediocre players and small teams. Having players go through full check will be very expensive for these clubs compared to rich ones. I bet all the biggest teams in Europe will have intensive look at their players health because they are multi million asset from the perspective of team owners, but for small clubs, players arent that valuable anyway, and they dont have the means either.
FIFA can say all the condolences as much as they want, but unless they stop treating these cases not as bad lucks and responsibility of players, I am not going let them off the hook. As I said before, pooling players wages, and having compulsory check-up via player association, is the best way forward IMO. Its like having second opinion from doctor. And good way to ensure all players' safety by susidizing poor players by taxing more wealthier players. I mean how many normal people will visit their local doctor to check if they have any genetic, heart, cancer, or brain disease? These are so rare, most will simply not bother to do thorough checks and players are no exception. We need action.
