Rules re: insulting loaned/co-owned players (14 Viewers)

Should the forum rules protect loaned/co-owned players from insults?

  • Yes, they belong to Juve whether they currently play for us or not

  • No, if they're not part of our squad, they're not considered Juventus players.

It's a committee actually, Sheik, Zlatan, Graham and Osman.

What about Giovinco? Are we still allowed to say FUCK Giovinco or is it considered a felony nowadays?
Oh come on Jack, don't try to make me out to be some kind of crusader trying to ruin everyone's fun. I didn't mention this or give any infractions for it until it was raised as an issue by forum members.

If I really felt so strongly I would have unilaterally started enforcing the rules, instead of opening this thread in an effort to hear people's opinions on how it should be handled.

As for the Giovinco issue specifically, I'm waiting to hear the team's opinions, but like I said, regardless of the outcome it's considered spamming and derailing when you guys go into other threads writing "F GIOVINCO".

I didn't accuse you of being the crusader, I know there are other members before you who pointed it out. You only decided to fight for their cause considering you agree with their opinion. Keep it up, you might get what you wish for this time and the outcome would be just lovely.

When is the poll supposed to end? And when do you plan to open the Giovinco thread?

why should the rules on a Juve forum protect a player who went out of his skin/dived trying to get a PK given against us in the Parma - Juve game (0-0)?

They shouldn't. It's complete nonsense to try and enforce that rule because some of those players that come under the rule will never wear a Juve shirt again.

Just so you know (and I've said this to Sheik myself), I'm not bothered that people hate Giovinco, which is why I haven't done anything about it despite the fact that it's been going on for a fair while now.

My issue is with the mindless spamming, and even if the insults continue, I'll be happy to not have to see a hundred of the same post every time I visit a thread.

Like I said before, the ignore list comes in nifty at such times.

This place is by no means a democracy :p but I'm posting this to get a general feel for people's opinions about loaned/co-owned players.

At this point, the rules are interpreted to mean that only players who are currently with the team are covered by the rules, but controversy has been stirred in the past few weeks, especially in the Giovinco thread.

So what do you guys think? We can't simply pick and choose which players are covered because there would be constant complaints, so the rules have to cover the Tiagos, Amauris and Criscitos too.
If we decide that we can't insult co-owned/loaned players because they are still Juve players, then I can insult Borriello since he's not a Juve player, but a Roma player.
I think it depends. Some on loan players would rather play for Juve but there is not enough room for them to get a first team place and they have to make the move whether they want to or not. Quetzalcoatl has a point in that it can work both ways. I don't see the need to insult them unless they insult Juve or their fans. There would be no point in insulting them otherwise.

As I've said from the beginning, it's a matter of consistency. Everyone is going to have different opinions on each player, so it's silly to implement some kind of 'pick and choose' system, where the ability to insult a player is based on their number of appearances or goals, or the last thing they said about the team to the media.

Those who would like to permit insults for players who no longer wear the Juve shirt need to understand that the same rule needs to apply consistently, whether it's Zlatan or Del Piero. Otherwise we'll have people complaining non-stop.

Like I said before, the ignore list comes in nifty at such times.
As I said in the other thread, it's not just a matter of ignoring the posts, and it's silly to suggest that everyone can just say whatever they want because there's an ignore function (and for me personally, it's not like I have the option of using it either).

This discussion was raised in order to determine whether the posts themselves should be against the rules or not.

If the decision is that we're going to let it go, then yes, people who don't like those posts can ignore the people who make them. If not, the posters themselves will have to cut it out.

The problem with the Del Piero thread is that because it's been made an example of people will go in there and troll and insult him just for kicks or to piss people off. I think it's probably a good idea to protect his thread until the next season because of the things that will happen in there as people have a lot less to talk about in the off-season. But then again, there will be people saying what about so and so's thread, they're a big legend too...

Ibrahimovic is insulted on this forum more than Giovinco is. And it's funny how you and Sheik bring in Del Piero to support your arguments. It's one more game and he's gone, I really want to see if anyone in his right might would insult Del Piero. Why? Simply because there is absolutely no reason to. Just like I told Sheik yesterday (to give him a taste of his own medicine) that if loaned and co-owned players are not allowed to be insulted because they are Juventus players, then I will re-direct my insults towards Giaccherrini who still is a Cesena player. Not that it doesn't make any frigging sense but also I have absolutely no reason to.

So to sum this up, I kindly ask you to close this thread and with it this silly discussion, open the Giovinco thread and if Osman, Sheik and Zlatan are irritated by some members they can simply add them (us) to their ignore list and get going with it. I have a huge urge to go say a few FUCK Giovincos where they really belong.

You're right, and that's exactly the reason I opened this thread, to clarify things more broadly and generally instead of working on an ad-hoc basis. This is not specifically about Giovinco, but it's an opportunity to define what our stance is going to be as players arrive, get loaned and leave in the future.

Ibrahimovic is insulted on this forum more than Giovinco is. And it's funny how you and Sheik bring in Del Piero to support your arguments. Del Piero's name was raised not because we realistically think he'll be insulted, and I said so myself when it was first mentioned.

The reason it came up is to illustrate using the most extreme example. There will always be divided opinions about certain players, and I'm simply saying that if we're going to let insults slide because a player doesn't wear the shirt anymore, then it needs to be applicable universally, not based on the whims or preferences of specific moderators.

So to sum this up, I kindly ask you to close this thread and with it this silly discussion, open the Giovinco thread and if Osman, Sheik and Zlatan are irritated by some members they can simply add them (us) to their ignore list and get going with it. I'm not going to repeat what I said about the ignore list for a third time.

As long as nothing constructive is going to appear in the thread, please wait until a decision is reached by the team.

Jack is becoming the ultimate troll on the forum. And worse being that he's not trolling an opposing team or a player, but our own. And his threat to keeping the Gio thread locked is to start his mindless, unreasonable trolling in other player threads. His example being of a player who is co-owned by us, and still plays for us. He doesn't seem to care about the club, it's players, the forum or anyone in it. He treats it like his own playground where he can spew his foul-mouthed non-sense without any regard to others in the forum. I'll leave it upto the mods to decide if they want people like him to post on the forums any longer.

Let's try flipping the "ignore me" argument: If you don't like Giovinco so much, Jack, then why don't you just ignore his thread? Why do you have to keep visiting it and comment on what gets posted about Giovinco? Why whine about what he did, does or will do in the future? Why bother? Just ignore him and let the Giovinco fans post in peace. Can you do that?

    You replied to it.
No I haven't, but I will now as I just saw this:

As I said in the other thread, it's not just a matter of ignoring the posts, and it's silly to suggest that everyone can just say whatever they want because there's an ignore function (and for me personally, it's not like I have the option of using it either).

What's the point of having the ignore list function then? And what is it if it is not only a matter of ignoring posts? Didn't the whole thing start in the Giovinco thread when Suns, Hustini, Sheik, Zlatan and Osman complained about the pages and pages of FUCK Giovinco (damn it feels good typing that)?

As for you, if you really really really want to avoid reading a certain member's posts and cannot do it, you can always step down as moderator. Trust me, you will enjoy the forum in a much different way.

As for the decision, is there a decided date where it will be announced?
